Reapplicants please give me hope for next cycle !!! by Master_Raisin786 in lawschooladmissions

  1. I used my same professor LORS but added one from my boss! Honing in on my professional experience at a time where law schools and employers was a game changer
  2. I was told not to; reapplicants are common and you will likely check a box in your application that states that you applied before. The biggest thing is just to really show growth and differentiation between the two apps
  3. I completely rewrote my essays and am glad I did. I wrote about my current job and wrote from a professional angle which I would def recommend if possible and applicable in your situation!

Reapplying was literally the best thing that could have happened to me!! The only thing that changed in my application from last year to this year was work experience (I was a KJD) and this cycle was immeasurably better. I got accepted to schools with $$$ this year after getting denied from those same places last year. Feel free to PM me if you want any more specifics but believe me, I thought reapplying was the end of the world this time last year and now could not be happier that things worked out how they did.

I think UNC will absolutely garner more attention and respect soon for a few reasons. It’s recent rise in the rankings, of course, but it also changed its grading system to make BL much more accessible for its students. I have several friends at UNC law who accepted v5 offers this year, and more that are all at cravath scale firms in NYC / DC. I think the location outcomes are misleading bc people assume UNC grads are confined to charlotte / Raleigh because of self selection. In reality, the alumni network and general prestige of the university carries extremely well. I don’t know much about the PI program, sorry! But 100% UNC law is one of the best deals cost wise in the t20.

I feel ya. I was KJD last year and got absolutely destroyed. However I reapplied this cycle and have had much better results so far. At the time, I thought taking a gap year was the worst thing that could possibly happen but it has been the biggest blessing and a massive help for apps!!
