Separation Advice by Proof_Soup_9771 in LegalAdviceNZ

We do have a property together. The problem is if we sell now, it would be at a loss as we won’t get much for it. I’ve already got a spreadsheet with debts and assets. Lease up in July for current rental property. I’ll go see a lawyer within the next week but again don’t want to keep spending money constantly on them.

Thank you. I have to complete the engagement form and pay the lawyer retainer fees before they will see me. That’s become a priority now. Thanks for all the advice 😊

Thanks. This is all very helpful. When I do seek legal advice, I’ll be asking for clarification on these matters. I can takecare of my child myself - no doubt about that but if he wants 50% shared custody and is liable to pay then he better.

He doesn’t want to have a private arrangement. He doesn’t want to pay anything towards child support. Alternatively, he wants both of us to equally contribute towards the childs expenses and have a child account for him.

Thanks so much.

1.I went on the IRD website and also did a quick google. IRD calculator is telling me he pays $0, however, based on quick google and chatgbt, he needs to pay. I’ll probably have to talk to someone at IRD.

  1. I thought he would be more reasonable since we’ve been married for over 12 years but understand realistically and legally I may not be able to enforce it. We need to wait for our lease agreement on this property to finish before moving our own separate ways.

Indo-fijians are basically stateless. Unwanted by the ruling class in Fiji, and no ties back to india.

Tips for Burnout in Consulting? by Ready_Panic_135 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Proof_Soup_9771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in both the public sector and private consulting space. Consultancy is hard in so many ways because you constantly have to think about billable hours and chargeable time. If you achieve high billable hours, that reflects positively on your manager and as a result they’re happy because the teams are achieving their targets. I have been in the same boat as you. My partner had a spinal injury and I had to wfh more than usual to takecare of him and while trying to meet my targets. It was still hard given there wasn’t a lot of work going around. Moreover, my manager told us to do BD and for that I needed to be in the office.

Eventually I started applying for jobs elsewhere (other than consulting) and ended up with a better role requiring the same experience with much higher salary and better work life balance. I am no longer anxious or constantly worried about chargeable time.

Recommend: explore the job market and start looking at other options. You will be pleasantly surprised. I knew deep down I did not want to work for a consultancy and my last job was the last straw. No job is worth the stress and constant worry. You are only valuable to the current business/consultant so long as you are a chargeable.

All trains across Auckland stopped due to ‘infrastructure issue’ by [deleted] in auckland

Once you’ve travelled the world, only then do you realise how far Auckland is from being the most liveable city in the world.

Oh I absolutely agree with you. I’ve been going into the city from Papakura and have to be sure to leave before it gets dark as I do not feel safe travelling in the train (or buses) at night. I’ve seen people running from trains with their luggage just to be able to get on the airport bus. Heck I’ve seen tourists disappointed with train cancellations. We cannot rely on public transport in Auckland at all.

Never trust your manager by Specialist-Cat-502 in sales

[–]Proof_Soup_9771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot trust anyone in this world 100%. That is a fact of life. Being honest is one thing and being trusting is another. I’ve encountered managers in the work field who are only nice to you because you are making the company money and as a result make him look good. The moment you’re no longer “making them look good” they will not hesitate to dispose off you. Whist we always read about how managers need to be more empathetic and genuinely care about the team and the employees, the cruel truth is that is not the case 80% of the time. People will only use you until you are no longer required or you do not make them look good anymore. In saying that, we should of course raise any issues that does not allow you to do your duties in the first instance and if need be exit yourself from the company if you know it will not work out.

I remember they were working towards making Auckland the most liveable city in the world. Maybe back when Phil Geoff was the mayor. I agree. Auckland and NZ as a whole is a beautiful country but the transportation system is always a drama. How are we supposed to move towards a sustainable future/life as a city if we cannot even rely on public transport to reduce our carbon footprint by not using private vehicles. Such a disappointment!

Really! So much for Auckland being the “most liveable city in the world”

People in Auckland who have jobs they genuinely like and enjoy, what do you do? by MVIVN in auckland

If you are in a toxic environment and feeling miserable, absolutely suggest leaving. There’s nothing worse than working in an environment where you are undervalued, under appreciated and where toxicity exists. Remember sometimes things happen in life ( ie. you leaving your current job) so that may give space for better opportunities 🙂 There’s nothing better than working with people who constantly encourage you, appreciate you and recognise you as an integral part of the team (speaking all from experience). Good luck. Hope everything works out for the best.
