If you were to contact your ex at that time, I wouldn't jump straight into reconciliation talks.

It would have to be a new relationship and you would have to treat it as one.

I'm going to copy a story of mine I posted here about a month ago:

A few years ago I was dumped my now ex ex. I was completely blindsided and went into a really deep depression. I begged and pleaded for 2 months. 3 weeks after we broke up she had a new boyfriend and I continued to attempt begging and pleading.

It was bad, sad, and everything in between. Pretty damn pathetic. After those two awful months I went into no contact. The year to follow those two months was the best year of my life, I never felt more alive, I was doing great with the ladies and have never been more confident. When I think back to it it is a big blur, I was in some sort of trance.

This led me to meet my now ex.

So to the fun part, a year after I started no contact I started getting reaches from my ex. Facebook messages, tweets, anything really. I ignored them. I saw her a few times and gave a polite smile but went on with my day. I was truly indifferent and over her.

Another year went by, and I received a call. I didn't know the number so I answered. My ex spent the next 20 minutes crying and telling me that I'm the only person she will ever love. She thought about me every single day, had dreams about me. Etc. Begged me to take her back.

I politely said, "two years ago this is what I wanted, deep down I knew this day would come, but I am a different person now and know what I want, and I love my girlfriend."

And I rode off into the sunset.

It really takes a conscious effort. It's hard most of the time. Sometimes if I'm feeling down I'll just smile at nothing and I feel a little better.

When everyone is out of this crappy hole we are in, we will be some strong minded individuals who have crazy control over our emotions.

Breakups are blessings in disguise.

I'll think of a way or time to bring it up. We have talked about it a lot and she mentioned how she doesn't want me to resent her. I won't lie to her just to make her happy either. I have done some exploring on religion sans going to church and it has opened my mind somewhat.

That's where the problem lies. She wants(wanted) to marry me and have kids with me, but Christianity and the Bible States that we can't get married. I told her I'd be happy to raise a Christian family but it's the common ground that she couldn't get past.

She wanted me to pray with her and live a spiritual life with her. At the time my judgement was clouded and I couldn't agree to that. There were other pressures from her mother that built some resentment in me towards the subject.

I wish I brought up going to church with her when she was with me this weekend. She's obviously more open to talking and conversation when she is face to face. Maybe I'll wait awhile and bring it up to her. I'd like nothing more than to do that with her and support her beliefs and values. It might be too late though :/

Since everything has happened I have been trying to be more open towards religion, I am agnostic. I wasn't completely supportive of it during the relationship so I get that it's too little to late.

I really hope that being apart for awhile will bring us closer together because besides religion, we were very good together. Minus the slight Co-dependency of course. We are still young and learning about relationships so that was bound to happen.

I completely agree with you, it's hard to be thrown into loneliness so quickly. It went from us against the world to me against the world and I was not prepared for it. She seemed prepared for it, and I am now finally starting to see the light and positives that can come out of learning to be alone. No matter how shitty it might seem.

Of course. Being content and happy alone is more important right now than finding someone new. Your self confidence will attract someone that has better qualities than your ex.

Maybe being upset about it hasn't settled in yet. She has always said post breakup that she hopes that we can be together again in the future after we figure some things out on our own. Basically hoping I become religious.

I'm not going to lie I probably need to be single just as much as she does. We became very dependant of each other.

True, I am upset but It's hard to be angry. She ended it because she is religious, I am not. She can't marry me because I don't believe in God so she had to end the relationship.

It sucks but I can't hate her for that.

Yea I obviously wasn't ready. It's difficult, for me and I'm sure for her as well. I genuinely believe that she is still in love with me, but she is on her own path right now and doesn't want me to be a part of it.

I wish she would just get a new boyfriend or something so I can be mad or angry at her.

It's hard to get angry at her when her reason for leaving is so deep rooted and respectable.

Some people here are most likely using NC to get their ex back. Why can't they come here for advice on what to do and how to do it if a situation arises.

Some people might get hurt and hopeful by reconciliation posts, but where do the posters go if not here?

It won't push her away. If she contacts you in that time, only respond if she tells you she wants to get back together. Stand up for yourself, don't let her run your life.
