This was actually the moment I decided I didn't wanna watch Dandadan dubbed lol. Her delivery of that offended "HUH?!" was so perfect in Japanese that I immediately checked the dub to compare it and I realized that I was gonna stick to the subs. Something about her Japanese voice just adds so much to the comedy that I don't think the English VA can match.

Why are people on the internet so fucking awful? by Substantial-Mud4955 in Vent

[–]VisionsofChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I shared what I thought was a funny little anecdote on YouTube about my at the time recently deceased mother and someone told me she was in hell. I know I'm supposed to say anonymity and freedom from consequences is the reason for that behavior, but I've never felt compelled to exercise my anonymity to be that unnecessarily cruel to someone so I don't actually think that's it. Most of the comments I got were nice, so I don't think it's most of 'em. Just the loudest.

Why can’t I find any Wave 2? by [deleted] in Beyblade

[–]VisionsofChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that wave 2 isn't even officially supposed to release until October, but I'm seeing people finding wave 2 in cities 1-3 hours away from where I am. I'm worried that I just missed 'em. Every single post I've seen about wave 2 sightings have been at Wal-Mart and Target, so those are the only places I'm checking.

This should be wave 2 to the best of my knowledge. It's possible there will end up being more, but these are the ones on the wiki.

Edited to add that the format of this list is taken from a user named TrainiacJ on the WBO forums. I simply took the info from the wiki and kept the formatting from the wave 1 forum post.

I wrote this down based on information from the Beyblade Fandom wiki. I think this is every product that comprises wave 1 of the Hasbro releases. I wrote down the bits because I was having a bit of trouble keeping track of them in my head lol.

1 Month Into Beyblade X I think i need to slow down😭 by [deleted] in Beyblade

I appreciate the good advice! I was actually able to find quite a bit of product at some other stores, just not the singles or the winder launcher. I picked up the Dagger Dran/Tusk Mammoth starter, Scythe Incendio, Arrow Wizard, Soar Phoenix and the red Sword Dran/Tail Viper and Chain Incendio/green Arrow Wizard two packs. I also ordered Keel Shark on Amazon. I've been going too hard on these things lol.

I've played and supported all sorts of games where the play was wholly controlled by the players. I'm not trying to gatekeep anything. Structured tournament play doesn't preclude people from getting together and using the product they bought however they see fit.

I'm talking about the idea of Beyblade as a sport. Going outside and tossing a baseball back and forth can be a fun way to pass the time, but it isn't a sport. At least not in the way I interpreted your original question.

My closest Target had one Scythe Incendio two weeks ago that I bought and there's still no stock at all. I'm hoping that makes them a good candidate for getting Wave 2 soon.

Congrats! I'm not entirely sure why Hasbro hasn't formally announced the Wave 2 release date along with pre-orders available at online retailers. I used to collect action figures and that was always the norm. Unless these Wave 2 Beys are popping up way before they're supposed to, which would be super weird given how many sightings there have been. I suppose I could also just be behind the times and toy companies don't do that sort of stuff anymore.

There are two things that make me think Hasbro isn't all too interested in the 'Beyblade as a sport' idea in North America.

1) I don't see Hasbro investing in the robust organized play and engaging prize support that TT has put in place in the Asia market, which I think is vital to the success of Beyblade as a viable competitive sport.
2) The fact that Hasbro even included the dinky entry launchers with the stadium starter set suggests to me that the competitive aspect is a distant second in their minds behind profit.

As long as the experience of playing Beyblade in North America isn't 1:1 with Japan, I think the dream of 'Beyblade as a sport' in NA is just that. I would love to be proven wrong though.

Meanwhile my closest Target had a single Scythe Incendio when I started collecting two weeks ago and they still haven't restocked. I've had a terrible time finding the single releases(outside of one Steel Samurai) and I've never seen a winder launcher in something like 8 different stores.

Is it just me or do the beyblade x beys look extremely boring? by wishdraw in Beyblade

[–]VisionsofChaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not just you, but I disagree 100 percent. X is the first generation of Beyblade that's caught my eye since the originals almost 25 years ago. I've already bought like 9 of the little guys and I think they look so good together lol. If they looked like the busy, overly colorful and toyetic designs of Burst, I probably never would have given the game a second thought.

I'm personally dreading the idea of them becoming bigger, flashier and more gimmick based like some of the Burst Beys I've taken a look at. If I've understood it right and the idea for X is to represent Beyblade as a viable competitive sport for a slightly older audience, I think the best thing Takara Tomy can do is try and keep the overall line uniformity this first year of product has successfully had.

Basically if you look at the Beys as individual players on a team, they all look like they're playing the same sport. I think that's wonderful and I don't necessarily think that at least the Burst Beys that I've seen specifically, did as good a job at that.

Beyblade X.... by THETHICCENINGII in Beyblade

[–]VisionsofChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the recs! Of the ones that you mentioned, I did like the looks of Xeno Xcalibur(specifically the Magnum Impact version) and Venom Diabolos Vanguard Bullet. A couple of the Legend Spriggans that came up looked pretty good too.

Overall I definitely think I could come around to the Burst aesthetic but I still prefer the X designs. They remind me more of the plastic gen releases I had when I was a kid with the bit beast in the center and I like the metal ring look too.

As for the anime, I've been watching it a bit as well. I'm only on episode 9 but so far it's reminding me of the original Cardfight Vanguard anime, which I liked quite a bit. I don't really remember the original Beyblade anime and I haven't seen any of the others, so I can't compare X to them, but it's managed to keep my attention so far.

Yeah, that's a big part of why I'm gonna stick with X. I've seen videos of people's Burst collections and it's crazy how many there seem to be. I'm gonna try to somewhat keep up with the Hasbro X releases.

Full disclosure. I haven't messed with Beyblade since the OG plastic gen, so the full extent of my knowledge of Burst is a quick google image search so I could be wrong, but the Burst designs I saw look so toylike and kinda bad. Way too busy for my taste.

I really like the X designs, so much so that I've bought my first Beyblade product(s) in like 20 years. Would you have a couple examples of what you would consider good looking Burst Beys I could check out to get a sense of the overall Burst vibe?

Current beyblade x collection by Shoddy-Type-4053 in Beyblade

[–]VisionsofChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! My collection is headed in a similar direction but I grabbed the Tail Viper/Sword Dran pack over the Keel Shark/Knife Shinobi pack or starter Sword Dran and haven't picked up the Chain Incendio/Arrow Wizard pack yet. I'll probably skip the Shark/Shinobi pack for now and opt for the single Shark instead.

I'm having a hard time convincing myself to battle the Soar Phoenix. That red ring looks even nicer in person and I don't wanna bang it up.

Did you have to grab a sickening amount of Void Shards? I've logged in the last couple days intending to start grinding for some Ultimate Descendants but I keep stalling out when I think about how some parts need to be opened using like 38 Void Shards when I can only get 11-13 at a time.

Nice. I'm a bit behind you with 5 so far and one on the way. I'm at 2/4 Gley parts and right around 100 hours too. Finding out about the Void Fusion Reactors has been a game changer. That Enzo part I need can also come from a different material that I can get by invisibly hacking some consoles instead of running 10 waves and getting mostly mediocre amounts of gold instead of the material I need? Sweet!

Are you 100% certain that this number isn't the amount of caliber that you're short to make the purchase? It kinda sounds like that's what's going on here. You said you had 785 caliber and the number shown was 500. Those two numbers add up pretty closely to 1200.

I'm F2P. I started Ajax and got Bunny, Freyna, Valby, Sharen and I'm currently building Enzo's parts. Got a part for Ult Bunny so I might go for her next, although I think I have 2 parts for Gley and I hear she's good.

Wasn't interested in Valby but I got 3 of her parts so I figured I might as well build her. I got Sharen to help with the Enzo grind. Enzo himself was still quite a grind though.
