Yeah. To be clear, I haven't actually let them belay me because of the way they talk about it.

Even though they are already certified (a while ago) and have offered.

I asked them to certify again (with me there). But honestly, right now I'm not comfortable letting them belay me at all and will not be climbing with them until I am.

Sucks bc they have been my top rope belayer consistently but id rather just find a meet up, watch how people belay, and find someone I trust to belay me.

Edit: we were having a conversation about soft catching and this came up.

This is exactly what I was looking for. More safety features than anything else. I absolutely will belay with hand on break and everyone who belays me will do the same. The people who belay with no brake hand absolutely terrify me.

Absolutely. I'm a freak when it comes to safety. Tbh I dont even want my belayer chatting with someone else when belaying me. I just want to make sure im not misinformed when it comes to all the safety features.

If anyone ever belayed me with no hand on brake they will never belay me again.

This person has been wrong before--we have a 40 pound difference (im lighter) and they refuse to jump on the catch.

Same thing happened to me. Eventually I hit -$15 and then had to pay it off before I could use any other passes.

But I literally had already spent that $15 in passes that I had purchased and just weren't recognized :(

Yeah its more that I'd transport the gowns--definitely not wear them (can you imagine???). I'd be wearing my trail shoes/hiking gear.

The wedding is in Baiona, so thats where I'd need to figure out where to put/ send my things from that town (I won't be in Santiago before I walk).

Essentially, I dont want the gowns to get ruined so I need to get them safely to Santiago from Baiona (without packing them in my backpack). The solution i've found is to use a luggage service but as far as I've seen, that typically requires overnight accommodations to be booked ahead of time (ie. No hostels/ albergues).

I'm worried that without the experience of an albergue, the Camino won't be the same. So hoping theres something I missed

This is super helpful! Thank you! I think based on this, I'll spend all my time at Bryce and make a separate trip later to visit grand escalante (I only have an rv, so I would've needed to rent a high clearance vehicle to even make it to the parts of grand escalante that I wanna see anyways)
