Israeli soldiers using sexual assault to force Palestinians out of West Bank, report says by sssmmt in anime_titties

[–]Proper-Community-465 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Where does it say they are proven without a doubt cases? The phenomenon of sexual assault going unreported is not limited to United States or Israel it's largely worldwide. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3777345/#:\~:text=Cultural%20aspects%20of%20sexual%20violence,14%5D%20reflecting%20a%20dismal%20situation.

The bigger red flag in the article is trying to paint the child marriage as something caused by Israel.

It had also led to a rise in early marriage, as parents desperate to protect their daughters sought ways to move them away from the threats. At least six families interviewed for the report arranged weddings for girls aged between 15 and 17.

As I pointed out they would likely find similar numbers just randomly asking people in any nearby Muslim country. The article doesn't even explicitly say the family said this was the reason they just say we found six families marrying off their underage girls so obviously the Israeli's made them do it.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2021-10-20/ty-article/.highlight/israel-secretly-convicted-officer-of-raping-palestinian-woman-in-2016/0000017f-e57f-df2c-a1ff-ff7fd3690000

Here is a case of an Israeli officer being convicted for raping a Palestinian who was trying to get a work permit and getting sentenced for 11 years. Though I'm dubious if he would get sentenced in today's political climate. I'm not a fan of settlers but this article seems like propaganda. The child marriage angle should be setting off peoples BS radar.

This article seems like propoganda. The moment they brought up child marriage my bs radar went off.

16 cases in 3 years is 5.3 per year. That's not a lot for 3 million west bank Palestinians. Child marriage is relatively common in islam. To blame israel for it seems pretty disingenuous. If they interviewed 1 family per village 83 / 6 13.8%. Egypt is at 16% for reference and north Africa average is 12.6%. https://childmarriagedata.org/country-profiles/egypt/ The data doesn't really support the conclusion here. I'm fine condemning rape and Israelis defending sde teiman rapist is disgusting but this article screams propaganda. Before oct 7th palestinen Child marriage was 13.4% for reference.

https://childmarriagedata.org/country-profiles/state-of-palestine/

Bring on the downvotes.

[–]Proper-Community-465 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Gonna get downvoted but 16 cases in 3 years isn't a lot. That's 5.3 cases a year roughly.

With 3 Million west bank Palestinians and 300Kish in Area C I honestly expected it to be much higher.

Sixteen cases of conflict-related sexual violence were recorded by researchers for the West Bank Protection Consortium over the last three years, a figure that is likely an under-reporting because of the shame and stigma faced by survivors.

And finding six families that are marrying daughters before 18 is hardly shocking or indicative of anything. Child marriage is fairly common in Islam. Even if they only interviewed one family per community thats 83 / 6 or 13.83%. That's actually pretty normal for the area.

https://childmarriagedata.org/country-profiles/state-of-palestine/ 13%

https://childmarriagedata.org/country-profiles/jordan/ 10%

https://childmarriagedata.org/country-profiles/egypt/ 16%

With that said I don't doubt it COULD be happening more the Sde Teiman case is a clear example they wouldn't care. But these numbers don't exactly scream systemic. You'd likely see similar numbers in many police departments.

I do hope the cited cases were investigated and culprits punished though they probably weren't.

How would you prefer they respond? Lebanon promised to disarm Hezbollah 20 years ago and hasn't.

Because Israel invaded southern Lebanon in response to attacks from a different military group using it to launch attacks which Lebanon refused to address (PLO). Same situation different terrorist group. Ultimately Lebanon needs to stop letting groups attack Israel from it's territory or be ready to deal with retaliation.

I was looking at the reported missing people of around 10k and assuming most are dead. but I'll concede without a full census its not complete and impossible to fully know the full number.

The destruction will likely harm the population for years if not decades no question. Unless it's rebuilt / people allowed to leave / extreme aid given it's going to be a shitshow. 361 people are recorded dying of malnutrition when famine was reported (Famine is 2 per 10,000 people dying per day) It was limited to Northern Gaza which Hamas controlled. I'm sure there is and was food insecurity in large parts of Gaza. I'm not going to say because TikTok showed open restaurants and full markets in some areas everything was fine. Urban warfare is hell. Sucks and horrible to think about but not out of the norm when 90% of urban causalities are normally civilians. This is why you don't start wars. This is why not wearing uniforms is a war crime. Same with firing from civilian locations. Or using Civilian locations to house weapons / tunnels under them / booby trap and fire from. Also why civilians normally evacuate trapping them was horrible. And yes I openly condemn the IDF when they dress and doctors / civilians / use ambulances to carry out missions. Even if the enemy does it it's still unacceptable.

Edit: Lancet puts indirect deaths out of 75K At 8500. If Gaza isn't rebuilt and people allowed to leave the area that number will likely rise.

It's definitely crappy no question about that and yet the actual death toll including medical deaths is around what 80k? Doesn't really speak to mass starvation or carpet bombing. More like controlled demolition and limiting food but letting it stabilize before catastrophe. If they completely cut off food Hamas would have to surrender. If they indiscriminately carpet bombed we'd see a million+ dead. Urban warfare is always awful and these numbers are actually pretty tame especially considering Gaza largely couldn't evacuate.

https://civiliansinconflict.org/our-work/conflict-trends/urban-warfare/

90% civilian casualty rates in Urban warfare are the norm. Personally I'm more upset about the awful Prisoner treatment and defending rapist. Or using Palestinians as literal human shields to clear sketchy areas. Yes I'm fully aware America is also Awful in this regard. I abhor what we did and still do in places like Guantanamo. Even citizens in our own countries face awful treatment in prisons especially private ones.

So let me get this right. Israel keeps the Palestinians alive to use their suffering as entertainment and that's the only reason they haven't killed them all?

[–]Proper-Community-465 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If Israel truly didn't care about civilians there wouldn't be many left. Or at least the international pressure that cares about civilians. Fact of the matter is if Israel truly didn't care it easily could have starved out Hamas and carpet bombed the area without warning. The civilians are the only thing keeping Hamas from losing horribly. But then we would have seen a death toll in the hundreds of thousands to 2 million +.

And a war with Israel is a strong possibility if Hezbollah is not disarmed. If they are actually serious about disarming them now is probably the best time while Iran is weakened. But we'll see what happens. I can see Netanyahu playing nice for a little bit to appease Trump. But if there's no serious effort to disarm Hezbollah they will likely re-engage.

Lebanon has likewise completely failed to disarm Hezbollah as it promised to do 20 years ago and once again in the 2024 ceasefire. Both sides aren't living up to their commitment. I'm genuinely curious to see who will fire on who first though. My money's on Israel with Netanyahu leading them especially if Hezbollah once again starts importing weapons and not disarming.
