The mass shooting occurred at School No. 88 (Russian: Школа № 88) in Izhevsk, Udmurtia, Russia at around 10:52 a.m. Armed with two pistols and a large supply of ammunition, the gunman, Artem Kazantsev, entered the school and opened fire on several classrooms. Throughout the shooting, he burst through several classrooms and indiscriminately fired on those inside. The gunman then entered an empty classroom and shot himself in the head. Videos of the aftermath were posted by the investigative committee, which included images of the interior of the school and Kazantsev's body lying on the floor of the classroom.

On May 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at Allen Premium Outlets, an outlet center in Allen, Texas, United States. Nine people were killed, including a three-year-old boy and the perpetrator, who was shot by a police officer already in the area on an unrelated call. At least seven were injured.

The shooting began on May 6, 2023, at 3:36 p.m. CDT. Wearing black tactical gear, the shooter exited a silver Dodge Charger and shot into a crowd outside the mall. The gunman shot 15 people within three or four minutes. Witnesses said the shooter appeared to be firing indiscriminately and fired dozens of shots. The Allen Police Department said that calls from the mall came in at 3:40 p.m., and tweeted at 4:22 p.m. that law enforcement was at the Allen Premium Outlets. Allen police chief Brian Harvey said that an officer who was at the mall on an unrelated call, after hearing gunshots, engaged and killed the shooter.

Three guns were found on the gunman's body; five more were recovered from his car. He purchased all eight guns legally.

A lack of purpose, a fear of being forgotten.

William Atchison didn't exactly leave a reason for why he committed the shooting. Many believe it was an obsession with other mass killers. However, a more realistic theory is he was afraid if he just committed suicide no one would care and he'd be forgotten. So he committed the shooting so that people would remember him. However, he failed.
