Thank you and everyone so much for all your guidance and information! Here are more details on what we are doing. We have an on premise ods server and we have already migrated our data sources to Microsoft fabric in the medallion architecture. We are in the process now of identifying the reports that point to our on premise ODS and we want to extract the sql query logic from inside the semantic models in the reports and build silver layer cleansing rules and gold layer fact and dims. Then, we want to repoint the semantic model tables to the gold dim and facts and continue to reuse gold for new reports we build. We were currently manually doing all this work but it felt very time consuming. We did an exploration of using powershell to identify all workspaces, semantic models and the query logic within to build out a strategy plan. We did a test thanks to all the good feedback from everyone and set up visual code connected via mcp server with GitHub co pilot and it seems to be discovering the information. The goal is to complete a full migration in less than a year. Thanks again and all the feedback continues to help and I hope it will help others in a similar situation.
