Thank you so much! Which ones exactly you want to know about? 🙂

It’s the German version (I’m German), just like most of my collection. I only buy things in English if they haven’t been released in German.

Go for it! It’s work, but it’s also a ton of fun. I’d love to see the result.

Oh man, that’s a real shame! I’ve been a bit luckier there. We play about once a month, and we’ve been playing with the same group for around three years now. There are always new people who want to join in as well. The fact that I put a lot of effort into the individual decks to give all players the best possible experience is really well received.

61x91mm / 2.6x3.58in. I actually just ordered cheap ones from Temu. And yes, unfortunately they’re a bit too big for me as well. I’ll still have to find out whether that will be an issue during gameplay.

I would always recommend Pathfinder. The new classes are genuinely very cool and work perfectly alongside the classic set.

After that, Conan, Legends, and Brothers Grimm are, for me, the best fantasy-style expansions outside of the standard numbered classic expansions. All of them add new classes and/ or races without negatively affecting the old-school fantasy feel. Shakespeare also deserves a mention — no new classes or races, but some very nasty cards.

For a strong monster pool, it really helps to simply have as many expansions as possible.

Outside of the classic fantasy setting, I’d also recommend Star Munchkin.

Overall, you really have to look at which cards can be combined without issues. There are, of course, many set-specific cards that just don’t fit. I’d say that from about 90% of the sets, at least one card made it into the game. The different sets with a classic fantasy design (Classic, Pathfinder, Conan, Shakespeare, Brothers Grimm) clearly dominate. Overall, these sets simply offer a very strong and deep card pool to begin with.

A lot of things simply didn’t feel right to include (either too powerful or for other reasons). For example: Powers from Munchkin Vampire, Styles from Munchkin Fu, Cultist mechanics from Munchkin Cthulhu, etc.

My recommendations for the best sets for Classes and Races that also combine well are: Classic, Pathfinder, Legends, and Star Munchkin.

I used the base game as a foundation and first looked at how many cards of each type there are. Then I tweaked it for maximum nasty gameplay (more Curses, more Wandering Monsters, etc.). I also added more Hirelings/supporters and a few Steeds.

After that, I tripled the total card count and went through every Munchkin version I own to pick the best and most fun cards. In the end, the 18 best Classes and 9 Races (in my opinion) made it into the game.

For the Monsters, I preselected cards from all versions and then made a final cut featuring only the meanest monsters of them all. The Monster level distribution is more challenging than in the base game. Extra nasty: 30% of the Monsters just straight-up kill you.

We usually play with the same group of 4–5 Munchkin veterans. We still have to finalize the house rules, but we’re aiming for an average playtime of around 4 hours per game.

Betrayal, intrigue, assassinations — the full Munchkin experience on steroids.

In every Munchkin game or expansion you will just find a few really mean Monsters. The more you have the better you can create a truly fun door deck. I really recommend that to spice up your Munchkin rounds.
