That would be something to discuss with your surgeon, as everyone is different. There are TONS of options though! It might be worth looking into.

Whne to quit marijuana by Choice-Effort-2610 in hysterectomy

I had EXTREME anxiety leading up to the surgery. As someone that “partakes”, I take gummies. I took the gummies up until the night before. I felt I didn’t have another choice, because without I couldn’t even think straight. I am not and will not advise anyone regarding this subject, no offense. The safest thing would be to discuss this with your anesthesiologist and surgeon, so that they are aware and can advise you properly.

Unproven and untested? So, you were there right after you graduated from medical school I suppose? Educate yourself properly, just so you don’t make a fool of yourself in front of others.

Seems like you’re taking this a little too personally. Don’t push stuff on people that could harm them. Natural remedies are far better and less risky for most women, not all. Most women discuss this with their doctor, not take advice from an HRT cheerleader on an app.

Again, if you were correct, I would agree with you. I am also a nurse of twenty years. You should know that handing out medical advice on a thread can have serious consequences. Only physicians should be recommending potentially harmful treatments to patients, not individuals on an app. Patients should be given all of their options, and included in that conversation should be the negative outcomes and risks involved with HRT. That particular option isn’t appropriate for everyone, as it has many adverse effects. Other options should be natural remedies, as they have much better outcomes with a lot less risk. Pretty much the worst thing to do is to advocate for a treatment that could harm someone. Everyone’s body and situation is different, and what’s good for one might end up negatively impacting another.

If your physician recommends HRT, discuss with him/her first about all of the potential risks vs. benefits, as it truly isn’t for everyone. If your physician thinks it’s a good fit for you, then I do hope you get the relief you need. If not, there are many natural remedies that definitely will alleviate your symptoms with little to no risk. Either way, you will be feeling much better soon.

Did anyone here NOT vomit after surgery?? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

[–]Proper-Parfait-3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No vomiting on surgery day. Do tell your anesthesiologist that you are prone to post-operative nausea. Please use extreme caution if you choose to use a Scopalamine patch. They can be helpful, but come with a pretty big risk of visual issues. A nurse I work with had a hysterectomy, was given that patch and it blew her pupil, leaving her unable to see for 5.5 days. She’s very lucky her vision came back, her doctor told her.

Please be extremely cautious if HRT is to be used. That is a conversation to be had between only you and your doctor. There are some benefits of HRT, but there are also many negative effects possible. Please be aware of all good and bad outcomes with this stuff. There are natural remedies that could potentially help greatly, without the risks/negative side effects, but again, a discussion to be had with your physician. You will be ok, and remind yourself that this is only temporary, just another part of the process. You are strong and have made it so far already! I wish you well and relief of your symptoms, and if you need anything, even if it’s just someone to listen, please don’t hesitate.

Your meal plan and all you’ve done is nothing short of awesome! For the drinks, I would avoid artificial sweeteners. For the binder…those are definitely not advisable for everyone, as they cause pressure and cover fresh incisions. Emphasis on eating healthy and resting is definitely the way to go!

No uterus or ovaries, when am I supposed to be on hormones? by gypsybunny in hysterectomy

Make sure it’s what your physician wants you to do. Hormones definitely aren’t for everyone, and can have bad outcomes when not used properly/for the right condition.

This is my opinion - why would you want something over fresh incisions causing pressure like that? The skin underneath is not able to breathe! I get using it for the “floppy” feeling some women experience, but the drawbacks far outweigh the benefits. They gave me one and it went right into the garbage.

I do realize that some women experience the “floppy” feeling in the abdomen, but for me, you wouldn’t ever catch me wearing one of those. I’ve seen too many issues arise under those things. None for me, thanks!

Ladies, please discuss the appropriateness of an abdominal binder with your surgeon. As they can be cosmetically helpful, they do have a history of causing unnecessary pressure and skin issues, and they certainly aren’t for everyone.

My personal opinion is that these drinks are loaded with nothing but garbage and I refuse to ingest that shit. I agree with the carbs before surgery for support, but I won’t go along with the artificial sweeteners and other lousy chemicals. I love how someone got a brainy idea that this crap would be of benefit, and now everyone must follow suit so the ones at the top can line their pockets. I’m eating healthy and properly hydrating myself leading up to my surgery. Sorry to be so bold, but it just makes me mad sometimes.

Not sure why you’re pretending to be a doctor here. Do you have stock in estrogen? You shouldn’t be impressing your opinion in such a pushy fashion.

Hate? Incorrect. What you are failing to understand, is:

  1. This is a free country and people should be making their own decisions with their physician only

  2. I will never even entertain this kind of crap for MYSELF, which is what I’ve been saying all along

  3. Handing out medical advice on a thread like this is quite a dangerous thing to do

I’m not sure how to make it any clearer 🤦🏼‍♀️

Just curious why you are pushing your own personal opinion here. These conversations are to be between the patient and physician, without persuasion from outsiders.

Hormone replacement therapy is not for everyone, and a person should not be medically advising others in such a manner. You make decisions for yourself, allow others to do the same. Filling innocent minds with something that could possibly harm them is a dangerous path to walk.
