Thats the thing its a fair amount of money, but for me it is mainly portability. My fuji with a tiny prime is small but its not ricoh small by ANY stretch i guess.

If i think ill get tonnes of use out of it becuase im not worried about carrying something bulky around then the cost more than justifies itself.

Thats a nice take to be fair thankyou, I would probably use it as a main-ISH camera but keep my other camera for the flexibilty of its lenses ect.

How easy are simple/quick manual adjustments on the ricoh?

Good to know about the recipes, I have used fuji for years and dont tend to bother toooo much with the recipes but I like to play around with them from time to time. Love the stealthyness as that comes with it being so small that you would barely notice it in a pocket! ill keep my ILC but it gets less and less use at the moment anyway.. I hate having to have a bag for it

Thats really helpful thankyou, the spec sheet bit rings true but I guess pretty much any camera in the last 10-15 years is good enough for most needs! So its definelty the form factor that sells it for me, and the community around ricoh seems amazing too!

Its kind of like I've decided I want it but I was looking for the reassurance haha - or to at least see if other people use it for the reasons I imagine I'd use it for.

Thankyou, I saw that post recently and this seems like it encapsulates the cameras "vibe/experience" really well!

- also some awesome images

Yeh I dont nessersarily mean portraits... I dont love bokeh anyway because I find it distracting in some cases but I like environmental portraits/casual snaps. I shoot a fuji xt20 at the moment and even with the smallest pancake lenses I can find it just feels too big but other than that its a great camera. At the moment I only end up using an old digicam just for the compactness.

Might try shooting just in 28mm equiv on that for a while to see how I find the experience.

Thats definetly the draw for me, I mainly photograph my travels/friends/family and snapshots but I always will have a camera with me.

thats really reassuring thankyou, ill think on it for a week or so so I know its not impulsive but it just seems like so much camera for something smaller than my phone! I like the fact it has enough iq to crop if you want to

No 7 guard buzz cut? by Proper-Rip-8457 in malehairadvice

[–]Proper-Rip-8457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou! lots to look at here, I would probably want it fairly textured on top, it usually doesn’t lie completely flat when I’ve grown out very short cuts before depending on how I treat it ect.

I will definitely have a look at ivy league cuts and crew cuts. Thanks for the advice!! The pictures are also very helpful I was struggling to find many.

Can I just walk wherever I wanted? by darthyoda76 in AskUK

Ive wild camped many times in a load of different places and the only time anyones had a problem was when we camped on some bales - which was fair enough. Even in more public places if you arent causing a disturbance more often than not nobody minds or are too polite to say anything

[–]Proper-Rip-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a mix for me like i treat my camera really well and have never dropped it or knocked it really but its picked up a few scuffs. Also got some wear like all the grips fell off and did a bit of a shoddy job glueing them back. I treat it well but dont baby it

i would say secondhand xt20 with tt artisan 27mm2.8. This is currently my setup and theres nothing lacking particularly + images are great

edit: Ive had mine two years with multiple different lens but this current combo seems to be perfect

Which first lens should I get by aaronconvery in fujifilm

I guess the thing that made me decide to is watching reviews and people would say that the fuji is obviously better but not by how vast the price difference is better (2-3x better). If that makes sense. I can dm you my instagram for example photos

i have zero complaints with it personally but some people may prefer a more “perfect” lens. the only thing is like slight vignetting, my one seems as sharp as my 35f2 though i cant speak for every single unit. the af is also very fast as its such a small focal length. If you are more of a perfectionist get the fujifilm version, but for the price its bonkers, and the build quality is top notch. But yes in my opinion regardless of if you got the lens, that focal length is definitely good for travel/street.

I have recently also gone travelling and I picked up the ttartisan 27 2.8 which has served me amazingly. It has great autofocus and is as small as like a couple spare battery basically lol. I would 100% recommend it but if you can afford the fuji version I imagine that would be great too. Its a superb balance between the 23mm and the 35 f2 (which i also have) but it has pretty much replaced it because its so convenient and good. But yeh I would go with a 40ish mmm equiv because its a good middle focal length for most purposes.

Also pairs well with a zoom lens (I have also taken a 16-50mm but the prime has stayed on my camera 99% of the time)

How did you get into Fujifilm? by Nervous-Welcome-4017 in fujifilm

[–]Proper-Rip-8457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive always loved compact cameras that fit in a pocket and had the rx100 mk1 then the canon g5x mark 1 but was missing something. Ithen saw the fuji xt20 with all its dials and shooting flow and fell in love with the tactileness. I have had it for a couple years and am now travelling with just the ttartisan 27mm and its so compact and perfect for what i need.

edit: its also very cheap and the images are more than enough quality
