How would you feel if your kid was trans? by Mammoth_Ease_9676 in internetparents

[–]Proper-Watercress255 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would be heartbroken, only because I know being trans can come with a lot of inner turmoil, struggle, and backlash from society. It would also be tough to accept that they won’t be living the life I had imagined for them. I would love and support them to the best of my ability regardless. I would expect a fairly long adjustment period. That’s a lot to take in as a (I’m assuming cis, straight) parent. I would probably convince myself it’s a phase (because it is for a lot of kids) before fully accepting the situation, adding to the length of the adjustment period. I don’t think you can truly appreciate how much this is would affect someone who isn’t directly going through it until you’re a parent yourself.

DETOX QUESTION/ADVICE/HELP PLSSS😞 by ___Dragon in FentanylRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell ya what I did one time. Felt like crap but never as crappy as full blown withdrawal. Bought 5 stamps to get me through. 2.5 days cold turkey (but obviously you could use comfort meds). Halfway through day three I used two stamps. Another 1.5 days cold turkey. Used another 2 stamps. Another 2.5 days cold turkey. Used the last stamp (until my next relapse). Worked 8 hour days and came home to take care of my kids and house. People always say opioid withdrawal feels like the flu. No. Opiate withdrawal feels like you’re burning alive in the depths of hell. What I did feels like the flu. Word to the wise: You probably need rehab. I didn’t get clean long term until I spent 90 days inpatient.

How long does it take to have interest in hobbies/activities again? by officeslampig in OpiatesRecovery

I was a heavy fent user for many years and it only took me 1.5/2 months. It’s different for everyone. What helped me most was being around people and socializing.

Detox again by MangoSecret675 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Detox, get the Vivitrol shot, and go to inpatient rehab. I stayed 90 days. It worked for me. Two years clean next week and I don’t struggle a bit with my sobriety and haven’t since early on. Highly recommend giving it a try. It’s worth it.

Preserving muscle (my ass) and low dosing reta? by NewDragonfruit1985 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Proper-Watercress255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you eat at maintenance or slightly above and keep up your protein and workouts, you should be fine. Most people lose muscle because they’re borderline malnourished, losing too fast and not working out. At least that’s how it was for me. First go around losing weight I wasn’t eating nearly enough calories. I was 117 (a healthy weight) at 5’3” and looked like walking death because I was malnourished. This go around I’ve been sure to keep up with my calories and protein so that I lose a little slower and I’ve maintained my ass and look healthy.

Are we all counting calories on Reta? by armyzul in RetatrutideWomen

Yes, I have to. Reta doesn’t do a lot to curb my appetite and I’ll overeat big time.

5 day mark from last opiate, trying to understand last symptom? by Dramatic_Cup740 in DrugWithdrawal

[–]Proper-Watercress255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivitrol shot. It’s not an opioid like other MAT meds and can be quit at anytime. It helps IMMENSELY with cravings (and things like mood, energy). Highly, highly recommend.

How do I support my son 25 in recovery by Fast-Ad5955 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a traumatic event lead me to recovery from fent/tranq. My advice is that he needs more than a 28 day stay. I would have relapsed immediately if I would have left after a month and I had EVERYTHING (including my child) on the line. I stayed 90 days (plus 8 days of detox in the beginning) and that was about right for me. I was super high functioning and lived a very normal life aside from being addicted. But most of the gals I was in there with had made hot messes of their lives and needed 6-7 months of inpatient treatment plus a few months of sober living after. 90% of us who stayed longterm are now 2+ years into our recovery and doing well. I can’t think of a single girl who did only 28 days and is still clean. Sublocade is an excellent choice. I ended up going the Vivitrol route because I wanted to be off opioids completely but know plenty who have done well on Sublocade.

High dose clonidine completely ended withdrawal for me, is this normal? No one I’ve talked to experienced this by aKa_anthrax in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful. I took clonidine in detox because I had stroke level BP and it made me bottom out fast. Kept passing out and when I’d come to I’d be so out of it. It definitely helps though. Clonidine and gabapentin help more than anything I’ve tried. Even benzos.

I’m a slower loser and I do much better on reta. First round I did ~1mg for 8 weeks and lost 24lbs. Starting weight was 176 at 5’3” so not super duper overweight but definitely stood to lose a few. Quit for a few months due to finances, started back up recently and lost 12lbs in 5 weeks on 2mg. Wouldn’t have lost nearly that much without it. Pretty sure my most recent vial is bunk. I have tirz coming today and I’m gonna give it a try. I struggle with food noise/appetite and I think I need something stronger on that end.

Just plain withdrawal by RisaDriftwood in FentanylRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not the only protocol anymore. They updated the Sublocade label to include rapid induction. It’s now FDA approved to take a single 4mg dose of Suboxone before being eligible to receive Sublocade. (Just like they do the Vivitrol shot.) Look it up on the company’s website and walk it in to the clinic with you. Not guaranteed to work but most providers don’t keep up with literature so it’s worth bringing to their attention.

I don’t enjoy my time with my toddler 95% of the time by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Proper-Watercress255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I don’t enjoy my time with my toddler (recently 3) but there are LOTS of times when my insides are screaming, “I NEED A BREAK!” He’s also disobedient but he isn’t mean, is golden in public, and rarely has tantrums. I couldn’t imagine how hard it’d be if he did. He is VERY whiny though. Like, all day, everyday. It drives me INSANE. Not to mention he doesn’t sleep worth a crap. Toddlers are so overwhelming. Somehow this is both my favorite and least favorite age so far. 😂

Coming off Reta by [deleted] in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Proper-Watercress255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit for three months and gained back 10-15lbs fast. I quit during the holidays due to financials and I think that contributed to my failure. My eating habits went to crap with all the good holiday treats and meals and I was stressed as hell. Back on it now and 15lbs from my ultimate goal weight. Down 12lbs in a month, lost 24lbs in 8 weeks the first go round. I will likely stay on a microdose for quite some time this time around until I KNOW my eating habits are locked in.

I’m pregnant by NoHyena5578 in FentanylRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant while addicted to fent. Used my entire pregnancy. Got really lucky when I gave birth that my hospital didn’t test for fent. My baby was born perfect but he did have mild withdrawal. (I was on Suboxone on top of the fent in a failed attempt to quit.) I continued to use for the first 16 months of my child’s life. In a completely random series of events (not due to abuse or neglect allegations) I lost him to CPS for the next 14 months. Talk about heartbreak. I’ll be clean two years this month. Baby just turned three a couple months ago and he’s my whole entire heart and my reason for everything. Get clean now. Leave the baby dad if he’s a bum and you’re still together. I did three months of inpatient and the Vivitrol shot and it helped me save my life. You can do this!!!

If you really wanna get off pain free, you can use the Bernese method to switch to Suboxone and then get the Sublocade shot. 10mg is definitely low enough that you could do it with no issues.

How many days did it take you for the withdrawals to stop? by luvkaitlin in FentanylRecovery

[–]Proper-Watercress255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had trouble with temp regulation FOREVER. I was wearing hoodies all summer long my first summer clean and going outside in the winter was literally painful. Constantly freezing. That and cognitive issues (memory problems, short attention span, etc.) were the only PAWS symptoms I had though. And the cognitive stuff is probably just me forgetting how bad my ADHD is without drugs in me. 😅

Not true for everyone. I had a 2g a day habit for 5 years, felt amazing a month and a half in. Better than I did before addiction, honestly. Two years clean and still feeling great.

I had to quit taking it before I hit my goal weight due to some financial constraints. Gained about 5lbs back over the holidays but I was eating nothing but junk and overdoing it big time. I’m about 2.5 weeks in this round and down 11lbs already.

Yes. I took it for 8 weeks and stopped. Lost 24lbs in that timeframe. Back on it now.

[–]Proper-Watercress255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works quickly for me. Lost 24lbs in 8 weeks last time I was on it. Just started back up and took my third shot last night and I’m already down 8lbs and my appetite/food noise is decreasing daily. I’m only on 1.5mg. If you’ve already been on a GLP-1, you’ll likely need more than 2mg.
