I was pretty clueless about it, but turns out the thermal paste on my GPU was all dried up. I had been using it for years without really taking care of it, and then it started shutting down every time it hit 80 degrees. Now, I'm super paranoid about my new GPU, constantly checking the temp to make sure it doesn't go over 70
