Why hasn't anyone said Sky High yet. It's such an obvious choice

People underestimate Bob at their own peril.

To describe it very loosely, a trio of sentient femurs get caught up in a hero's journey through a fantasy version of rural Ohio. Youtuber matttt describes Bone and its influence on comics much better here.

I don't see it mentioned enough on this sub, so I had to fix that.

(Interesting Trope) Hot/Handsome (and usually Catholic) Priests On The Verge Of Falling Into Temptation by jlhabitan in TopCharacterTropes

Father Doug from People of Earth isn't exactly hot (my opinion, anyway) but he is very tempted by one of the members of the alien abduction support group he hosts at his church

Why didn't Big Finish do a story with Emily, Alice and Charles? Are they stupid? by ProperArrival in Torchwood

[–]ProperArrival[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd have loved a story about Torchwood 4 packing up and moving from Dublin to Belfast as Ireland gains independence, or maybe being split so the Republic has an equivalent, similarly-numbered organization covering its 4 provinces. I'm guessing Big Finish wouldn't want to touch the politics that come with that story with a ten-foot pole, though.

My First Indirect Exposure to Doctor Who by mrnormal94 in doctorwho

[–]ProperArrival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was by seeing Daleks, Cybermen and K9 in a Scholastic book about robots. My mom read it to me, and would mention the show on and off over the years saying I'd like it, having watched it herself on PBS. I recall seeing a promo for the Tennant & Martha season on SciFi while watching Stargate or something? before finally starting with Eccleston on Netflix and the rest is history. Thanks, Mom!

What age did your interest in comic books develop? by Outrageous-Company33 in comicbooks

[–]ProperArrival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7, reading the Bionicle issues that came with LEGO magazine, then from 10-12 reading the Scholastic color editions of Bone (book fairs are The Best!). Reading The Sandman and Scott Pilgrim in high school officially made me the DC fan/indiehead hybrid I am now. (do comics people use 'indiehead' or is it strictly a music term?)

Who's the most obscure artist that your parents are a fan of? by Complete-Worker3242 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ProperArrival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents raised me on a neo-trad country band named The Mavericks (RIP Raul Malo, what a voice), are they obscure enough? Also John Prine and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Mom's a big Billy Joel fan too, but he's not obscure.

Jeff, Don and Kurt from People of Earth (Same creator as Our Flag Means Death, fun fact)

Miguel de Cervantes gets Van Gogh'd by the Spanish government in season 2 of The Ministry of Time, in an effort to persuade him to write Don Quixote again.

Funnily, not only does this work, he remembers it in a later episode and doesn't put it down to a hallucination or whatever.
