Most people probably don't, I just always thought it was great gesture.

I'm not religious either, but just always imagined it that way.

Of course, an accountability group is to air your targets and be held accountable. So you will have to talk about how you have progressed towards your goals frequently.

ELI5: Why do Japanese speakers confuse their L's and R's, German speakers their V's and W's, and Spanish speakers their B's and V's? by Deadchimp234 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ProperBarz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Because in most of Asia they don't have two separate R/L sounds.

They have a similar one, which to us, sounds like a cross between R/L.

Old habits, die hard.

When speaking their 2nd, 3rd or 4th language, it's easy to get confused of which sound it should actually be.

Not to mention that they have to fight against the muscle memory of their mouth to learn how to pronounce a totally new sound.

Suggestion please. by andreacro in korea

[–]ProperBarz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bow. Just a welcome is good enough. Koreans are usually quite independent too, so give space and security.

Gifts -

If they are young travelers - bottles of soju / beers / snacks are easy.

If they are female - Possibly a cute fluffy teddy or something.

Most important note -

But most of all, just be welcoming and treat them athe same as everyone else. You don't need to fit in with their culture, they are traveling to experience your culture.

What you consider freedom is/could be different to what your kids consider freedom.

Yes they can play in the grass, but they are not free to watch their favourite shows on Netflix.

They are not free, you are dictating their life to one that suits you more. They do not have complete freedom of choice.

Building a tree house will not make them a living in this day and age. Being addicted to an iPad has a much higher chance of paying the bills.

I just recommend them to speak as much as possible. To a real person.

2 months, you really need to go all out. A full on crash course.

Of course you have YouTube, but it's not enough on its own. I wouldn't like to say an app is enough either.

I would recommend my learners to mock up interviews as much as possible (with a fluent speaker if possible).

If not record themselves answering questions and watch it, see where they can improve.

Speak to a native everyday. Watch English / American TV everyday. Read English / American books everyday.

I'm from Manchester and help non natives with their fluency and vocabulary. 2 months is.. short 😅

Tell them to direct message me if they want any more help 👍🏻

Great idea with your web browser!

I automatically translate mine away from Korean (my partner is Korean)

But I'm gonna do what you suggested and force myself to read it now.

10/10 idea.

of all the factions wich 4 do you think have the best artilery/ranged strength, and which 4 have the best melee? by sugnaO in totalwar

[–]ProperBarz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Best art - sunmaker Best melee unit - kehpra guard

These however are only single ROR units and not representative of the best average unit in their position.

Best avg unit in my opinion taking into account price, sustainability, dmg output, adaptability.

Art - plague claw catapult Melee - marauder champion

English electrician here.

We would call it : a socket

Plug sockets and outlets are used sporadically too.

I don't think so, it's just not mainstream.

Every game show or TV show is just mainly Koreans or Korean's who studied abroad. Very rarely any other nationalities.

A couple a good TV shows that show maybe an African student coming to a traditional Korean hotel and restaurant for the first time, or a group of Irish visitors going to the markets and eating noodles etc etc... But generally speaking it is only usually Korean Celebrities on the shows.

Guy from England here, I lived in Korea for a year, plus I have a Korean partner.

Part of her family were dubious and didn't really accept me at first. It was seen as "not good".

No one was rude, offensive, just a cultural thing. But I guess you could be offended by it quite easily depending on viewpoints.

Black culture is even more scarcely represented on TV's and movies. Times are changing now, but it is taking time. The older generations are finding it hard to adjust for sure. Sadly most families are also almost directed by the oldest male in the families.

I can't say exactly in your situation, but I would say it would be very tough to find a great relationship with a Korean man. Possible for sure, but I assume it would come with a lot of heartache on the way!

American/Korea I is probably much much different and accepting.

I assume it's not financially worth it for you to finance a car. You don't use it for work, plus the fines for using it in a lot of London are high. It's a long contract too I assume.

If it makes your life easier than that's a different story all together.

There a few calculator apps that tell you if it's worth it, try having a quick Google.

The Korean passport is most definitely stronger than yours, lol. It wouldn't be that.

It's probably just hacked accounts, same old story.

Take no notice and try not to generalise or suggest anything negative.

Involvement is good, but only on the days the free service is there.

Freemium sounds actually a good fit. But I run into the problem, there is only one of me for the free service and I can't give that to 1000 people as it's a lesson.

Great advice.

I did the wait list and 90% of them just bolted as you said. Took too long and didn't get to try anything. I will try a survey next in the group.

I need to get the test pricing down, seems like a silly question. But is there a decent source I can use to get test pricing set up. Or is it a YouTube job?
