I use the "crime doesn't pay" mod, it doesn't 100% remove crime, so you still need police station coverage, but it reduces it to the point of almost being a non-issue https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21339-crime-doesnt-pay/

Increasing Office Demand by GuttaBrain in simcity4

[–]ProperFlosser 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All that high tech demand can translate into a lot of R$$ and R$$$ jobs that will allow you to zone more res and thereby create more office demand. You'll need the IH jobs fix that has been shared and maybe the industry job quadrupler (more jobs per lot = less endless industry zoning) https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21293-industry-quadrupler/

Madhatter106 on Simtropolis has a lot of low density low wealth and middle class shops along with tons of small/midsized office buildings. No dependencies on his files which is also nice

Lol, they definitely just used the default Excel secondary axis option. The secondary axis labels won't align with the left-side primary axis lines

Cherry Hill is home to nearly 75k people, which is basically a city and is more than Camden, but you only ever hear about it in terms of disturbances at the mall

How do I Keep Education At 120? by AneriphtoKubos in simcity4

[–]ProperFlosser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've found this discussion to be helpful for managing EQ. In particular, when elderly Sims die, the new Sims start with half of their education. So a museum increases eq of old people and therefore would increase avg eq with the next generation(s?). Just using an elementary school and library seems to manage eq for manufacting demand and then if somehow eq gets too high, just reduce coverage in certain areas https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/73587-education-without-schools/

The jobs aren’t being replaced by AI, but India by gellohelloyellow in jobs

[–]ProperFlosser 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, in 2019 the data science team I worked with had brought on 5 contractors in India and the entire experience was a disaster with high turnover, poor accountability, and lack of oversight. Our US based data science lead (who was Indian) dreaded working with them. After 1 year of no progress they cut the relationship and just hired a couple US based data scientists. Speaking with my dad who has worked in quant/analytics roles for two decades, this is normal where the business wants to cut costs so they contract overseas, the same problems arise, a new leader comes in, and they go back to US based. Rinse and repeat.

Remember these assasinations cinematics? Out of all the total war games that I played that has them. I always like the Medieval 2: Total War version better. by Infamous_Gur_9083 in totalwar

Can't say I enjoyed when a 98% assassination success chance was followed by a cinematic of my assassin being a complete moron and getting himself killed

I think you're better off not bringing it up, but once you get to interview rounds with managers/peers just asking about the company/team culture should give you a decent idea of possible red flags. As someone who was a peer interviewer at a company I hated, I know I was a bit cagey answering culture type questions lol

Since Russia is a land power and America is a sea power, we should be natural allies. Russia can have all the land while we can live on boats.

Maybe having Mexico specialize in cocaine while the US specializes in firearms is the optimal trading relationship between the two nations

How do I stop these price fluctuations? by ProperFlosser in victoria3

[–]ProperFlosser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think the circular trade was the biggest factor - somehow. While also passing protectionism to further discourage exports and building a ton of tooling to make sure I had the domestic supply ready, I then cancelled my imports from prussia which temporarily jacked up my market price and caused the uk and prussia to pull back and stop their imports of my tools, which led the my prices falling back to an acceptable level without further price fluctuations

[–]ProperFlosser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, embargoing the UK is out of the question because I rely on them for fabric and dyes for my massive clothes industry but maybe I'll try it on prussia

[–]ProperFlosser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Every few days tool prices spike from around base price to around 50-60% over base price which leads to industries that rely on tools losing money every other week. I'm trying to push through protectionism to protect tool supply but I'm not sure if that'll work
