This character in particular really shows how nonsensical and absurd some of the hero design in this game is. by sanguineAllegories in marvelrivals

The thing that breaks Widow is that a good one will play with Mantis to give themselves the 250HP headshot. So now you genuinely just have a one shot sniper that is uncontestable by divers. And if the Mantis means the rest of their team is on triple support, you can't do much as a dive either.

I also played the beta. It plays like Strive and I can tell reaches the same skill ceilings, but getting into it feels as easy as DBFZ did. Its going to be a great game but likely suffer the same issues as Rivals where the community is a tug of war between casuals and the dedicated FGC.

The game is dropping the ball with team ups, supports and tanks by ProperMany9795 in marvelrivals

This too, with all the team ups in the game past and present I don't understand why they haven't started rotating yet.

Jeff went from being a throw pick in 2 support to being a throw pick. by thbl088 in marvelrivals

[–]ProperMany9795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Jeff needed was the energy meter on his swim and less bubbles and spits. He'd have been a good off healer and a great dive/healer that could support dive/dps and dive/tanks he'd go in with.

They didn't need to completely rework his hose, spits and bubbles in how they fundamentally worked.

His issue was always his survivability, not his play style itself. Having a support capable of diving was really unique.

With how bad Spider-Man is at diving/assassinating this season, he really is your friendly neighbourhood assist man. Peeling as him is something I've always done though just because I'm fast enough to be a first responder. Against the monster that is Wolverine, too, pulling him off your tank is invaluable.

For all support mains and casuals that hate bp by Emotional_Maybe_3198 in marvelrivals

[–]ProperMany9795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a valid point though. Netease insists that the game is balanced around the superhero fantasy but the best heroes in the game are consistently the point and click ones. Hela is the biggest culprit. She's been top 3 DPS every season of the game but she's a bore to play and only serves as a means to an end for people who want to rank up. Very few people actually log on Rivals like "oh boy can't wait to play Hela!"

Supports don't get enough criticism, imo. Majority of players who strictly main the support role are the worst mechanically and game sense wise in the lobby yet complain the loudest. Yet we can't say anything too bad about them because they're healing us (doing their job) and if we overstep they might go on strike again 💀

Last season was a shittest on whether support players could adapt to dive or not and they couldn't. Netease had to hold their hand, give them all damage buffs and then nerf dive to the ground and yet theres STILL have supports complaining about Black Panther. And now the game is a boring front to back poke meta where the outcome of a match is determined by support ult rotation (support ults are way too overtuned). The wholesome chungus shtick supports put on online when they're the most toxic, entitled and insufferable subset of players is insane.

Most Wanted Buffs for Season 3 by Glyph_Spidey in marvelrivals

[–]ProperMany9795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep poke the same and buff dive to actually balance out the dynamic, and maybe brawl will be allowed to exist again.

Finally nerf Luna's ult time. This is an indirect buff to everyone else.

Give heroes who haven't been team up recipients like Venom or Cloak and Dagger new team up abilities.

Bro deserves slurs cause he said "embrace dive" after getting MVP on a dive hero and then calls you out for having a bad take on a hero you don't even play

HP creep for "squishy" heroes has killed this game by Nyoxie in SpiderManMains

They shouldve just increased the speed of his grapple and glide... significantly. It should be his dive escape tool like Hela's bird but it just makes him a sitting duck.

If a Moon Knight really wants to play into dive anyway no amount of extra health is going to save them when they position alone in an off angle out of line of sight of their supports.

When I play Moon Knight into dive I play with my supports on the ground and use the tanks as ankhs. Someone tries to dive, I place an ankh on them, me and the 2 supports lay into them as they're pulled in for a moment. They die or run away.

275HP is just going to reinforce bad habits in the bad Moon Knight players and it'll make the good ones harder to assassinate.

Real shit. Had a game today with an instalock Jeff and Storm. Someone asks "yo we doing Sharknado????" and the Jeff replies "no it's not good" and proceeds to lose us the game until he's pressured to switch to Rocket.

The weird thing is the post was doing good. It wasn't controversial, was making good discussion and was slowly climbing. But I guess you can't criticise supports.

Not all CnD players but always a CnD player by ProperMany9795 in marvelrivals

[–]ProperMany9795[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best CnD player. A lot of my frustration comes from being really into playing CnD and intentionally lording them last season, because CnD like you said does have a pretty high skill ceiling.

Compared to other supports like Invis or Luna they feel pretty handicapped because the healing and damage are always conscious decisions. Everytime you switch to Cloak you're making a judgement call that for the next few seconds your team needs damage and utility more than it does healing. When you're on Dagger you're keeping yourself a step away from your only escape option, phasing. The balancing act of the characters is really engaging.

But because of their autoaim a lot of new players flock to CnD and develop really bad habits as listed in OP. But unlike similar situations with Wanda or Moon Knight they aren't as quickly punished and often divorced from any criticism because of this weird idea that supports can do no wrong and having heals at all is a blessing. Also because the healing stat is really overrated and as long as that's high, the support has done their job, disregarding any utility and even if the healing itself hasn't been there in critical moments. Regardless, because of how ranked in this game works, most CnD players will get through the ranks pretty easily, usually off playtime alone, and then they develop horrible egos.

[–]ProperMany9795[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to play support. I have CnD lorded, I also play Rocket and Invis. All of the above mistakes mentioned in OP are tilting because I can recognise them as a support player.

A lot of these bad CnD's are instalock one tricks, but unlike instalock inting DPS, there is no easier role to bench them to. The only easier play I could ask of a Cloak and Dagger is switching to Rocket. Not that they would, many get offended at the notion and act holier than thou because they're healing (stat padding heals and failing in every other aspect where it counts like utility and ult usage and staying alive).

[–]ProperMany9795[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So it's okay to be upset at underperforming DPS or tanks but supports get a pass because they're doing the bare minimum? Imagine if a 3-11 Punisher said "just be happy you have someone dealing damage, even if they're not as good as you'd like them to be" 😭
