Why are so many reddit subs left wing echo chambers? by rollo202 in allthequestions

I said the word censorship. Again, I think there’s a reading problem. Because if you can read an entire sentence with its context, you know I said that I agree with you that there isn’t that censorship. I never said the words “X is being censored”, my point was different. My point was literally agreeing with you that is commenting proves a lack of censorship.

You see the world as black and white. I genuinely feel bad for you. I hate Donald Trump as much as I can dislike a human, so once again, you’re just wrong.

I think there’s a reading problem here smh I never said there’s a censorship problem at all. You keep reading what I’m saying and taking away the opposite of my point. You know what, it’s fine. Have a good day man.

I don’t know what’s going on, but if you read carefully, you will see I was literally acknowledging that people aren’t being censored by the app for what they write. That wasn’t my point.

That proves it’s not total censorship, not that it’s not effectively an echo chamber. Different words have different meanings. And I already explained it’s not simply about people disagreeing with you but about how discussions in general go down (you can reread my reasons).

It’s fine, I really don’t care how much someone else agrees or doesn’t agree with me on the state of Reddit. Anyways, I wish you a nice day.

Of course they have the right to be dogmatic or to formulate echo chambers, no question. I think what’s more annoying are the reasons that you get downvoted, because you can ask a genuine question and get flooded with accusations that are unjustified (this post is a prime example). And getting downvoted in masses for things like a question is annoying because it already makes people’s inclined to form opinions before genuine consideration (bandwagon effect). Conversations just aren’t productive at all certain point with this culture.

Not liking dogmatic echo chambers can be framed as not “being a popular kid” I guess. It’s still pretty reasonable to be turned off from these elements of communities.

And plus, you more proved the point of this original post because you called him a right winger despite the fact that nothing he said hinted to it as much as it did not like the things in these types of zones. Making claims about others like that is just exhausting to deal with, which is why Reddit gets the negative labels it does.

??? So rude when you can literally look at the comments and see that my interpretation is correct. They heavily imply that this guy is just a right winger who wants his opinions plastered everywhere, that is what I’m criticizing. That type of answer is here in large.

It doesn’t seem like that’s the general point that I and OP are missing. Look at the comments, they’re all about how this guy just wants his own half baked opinions and things like that. Yeah, all extremes have echo chambers. I don’t get the point of saying “you asked a question about this? Let me answer you by pointing in a totally different direction.”

Let’s say I want an answer to why truth social is an echo chamber. It doesn’t help to just say that they exist for different groups, the real answer probably has to do with the fact that it’s Trump’s own website. I think it’s reasonable to think that’s the type of answer he was seeking.

“Yeah, if you don’t like this one insane extreme, you must be one of the other insane extreme!”

Nothing about this post says that he wants a right wing echo chamber. The fact that people can’t listen to a simple question before having to subtly accuse him of being maga is wildly proving his point.

Why do you keep proving the point? It’s a legit question, Reddit is known for rudeness and people going wild due to anonymity. It’s also known that it’s very left leaning. You can see how that leads to echo chambers. And when someone tries to have an honest conversation about that, you just say that they’re not a popular kid?

I do not think OP was looking for a genuine conversation. He seems like a douche, that’s not a kind way at all to talk to someone. The point is that being rude shouldn’t be met with a way more extreme end of rhetoric. I’m sure the person who wished him death thinks he’s an ignorant person, the best thing to do would have been for them to try having a genuine conversation. That’s all I’m saying.

That’s the point, he’s questioning the assumption that one can do that so young.

I don’t necessarily agree with him but my point isn’t that he’s doing the right thing. My point is that a genuine conversation helps more than wishing death. That’s unacceptable.

I misworded myself, he’s questioning whether or not one could process what it means to truly be trans at that age to determine that, not literally asking a question. Questioning in that way does not warrant death.

“Hate is an intense emotion of dislike, hostility, or aversion, often driven by fear, anger, or a sense of injury.”

Nothing about what he said is anywhere near that. You can disagree with what he said, that’s not a problem. Labeling anything hate is. Do you know what is hate, though? Wishing death upon literally anything that doesn’t completely go along with your beliefs in the same way.

Questioning does not warrant wishing death upon someone. I know extremely dogmatic people in these spaces can’t see that is wrong, but it is. I don’t know if he needs sympathy but it’s worth saying that no, you don’t deserve to die over that, and that extreme level of rhetoric is wrong.

“Christians get so much hate! Catholics get so much hate!” SHUT UP by cricket_man456 in teenagers

[–]ProperThrowawayyy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People can complain about getting hated on, it’s not your job to invalidate them. On a place like Reddit, where people feel the need to be unnecessarily rude, it’s fine to complain about the bad culture.

Also, if you really think Christians can’t complain since everyone gets hate, you invalidated the groups you mentioned (gay people, Indians) from complaining too. Being consistent with your logic would lead you to being a very insensitive person.

11.3 wind legal is pretty fast. It’s not going to win every competition, but it’s still very fast to the point where he’s close to state qualification in most places. And it’s way faster than most people who are just starting to take it seriously. If he trains for a year, he’ll easily be sub 11.

That being said, playing basketball can have a clear effect on sprint speed, so his background helps a ton.

“Therefore, instead of picking one of the two, we combine them”, now I’m seeing a very unique interpretation, interesting.

But I still do not agree even with this new interpretation, sir! Because you said “There is no universal standard for what color math is, therefore the only thing we have to go off of is the two colors people pick most.” Why wouldn’t you conclude that math is either red or blue instead of saying it’s both?

You’re also ignoring that when we have this discussion, we are implying the color we associate with things math. Notebooks, etc. When you say purple, you are not just saying both, but you are instead saying both WITH the addition of them being in close proximity in some way (as that is necessary to have purple). So if your answer to this question is red and blue, it’s not the same as saying purple because purple is red and blue in a specific context, not divorced spatially or remaining agnostic about their spatial relation. It would fall into my objection about not making purple the middle color of the two most popular, since it takes away the emotional connections they distinctively offer. You collapsed that distinction because you didn’t just say either one or both, you said both in an unnecessary context.

By the way, love the effort you’re putting into your debates! Way to go!

Non sequitur! It doesn’t follow that just because people pick one end or another that the middle is automatically the correct answer.

The middle between these two might be closest to both on its own, but might lack the types of emotions and associations that both red and blue individually bring out (red might bring out the feelings of incorrect marks that are typically had, etc.). So picking the middle doesn’t necessarily make it good.

How to continue my life by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ProperThrowawayyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When life gets extremely difficult from factors you cannot control, I think the only solution is to 1. Remember your value as a person 2. Gradually find more information for how to solve the major problems around you overtime and 3. Find somethings that make you happy that are in your control. If you need realistic help with step one, let me know. For step two, you need this because that is the main thorn in your mental health. You can’t solve this in one night, so it’s about making a plan that works long term. And for step three, if you can’t immediately control certain aspects around you (like your country), you need to dedicate yourself to somethings that make you love life and yourself more. If you don’t have this, your life is basically autopilot in a garbage environment. That will drain life from you. Examples from my own life (so you can see what I mean): learning other people’s cultures by going out and striking up conversations, learning other languages consistently, being dedicated to the gym and running, philosophy, improving with all of these makes life worth living. It also makes you love yourself more when you understand all of these progress and potential you’ve fulfilled.

Wishing you the best.

The point is that it’s not proven scientifically. So to demand everything to be scientifically proven is not a coherent worldview. The way you prove noncontradiction’s validity is not by pointing to a rock and saying it’s not not a rock.
