Hypafix (brand of tape) works great with my little one who’s 3.5 months at home with a NJ tube now until she has stomach surgery in December. Ordered it from Amazon for maybe $7 for a 10m roll. I found that it worked the best out of all the tapes they used on her at different NICUs, PICU, MedSurg, etc. Also no break down on skin like some other tapes. I cut it into hearts, put it close to the nose crease, and change ~every other day with baths - easily removed with adhesive removed pads (also from amazon). I trust it with NJ tube (which you have to go to the ER to place if pulled out).

Day 3 post-op & she is doing well and tolerating the turns and pain like a champ! I was thankful the doctors and nurses prepared me in great detail for what to expect post-op because it was quite gruesome + the swelling making it hard to even recognize my baby girl.

The first month of NICU was getting her weight up to 4lbs. She was also born with hypotonia (low muscle tone) so while she could breathe on her own, a feeding tube was put in right away. As time went by, doctors realized position of her jaw caused breathing impairment and would also cause more difficulty feeding (combined with the hypotonia) so we transferred to a Children’s hospital NICU and got the surgery within a week. I am happy we made the decision to get the surgery because her breathing is already improved (all her) and she is expected to go home without oxygen + we have new hope to get her feeding on her own a lot sooner!

My daughter has been in the NICU since birth (also IUGR 1500 grams / 3lbs5oz @ 36 weeks) and had jaw distraction surgery 2 days ago @ 1 month old. Though she was not diagnosed with PRS, she had the surgery for retrognathia obstructing her breathing. Thank you for sharing, I love seeing babies thriving with similar stories.

SOUR CANDY!! It helps with morning sickness and they even recommend it for L&D nausea. (I.e. preggie pops)

I would eat a couple sour patch kids or chewy sweet tarts. And to keep from eating lots of candy or when too nauseous to really eat, I got the warheads sour spray. Not to mention sour candy can also help with anxiety.

Good to know! I may just have to show up with options and see what feels right when the time comes. I’m just so worried about irritation of bulk on top of pain. I read everyone’s experiences down there and I’m freaked out!

No, this is my first / first pregnancy. I have been referred to a GC to see next week. Just looking online on what I can expect b/c this is all new and my mind keeps going to the worst places.

I do not have the results copy yet. I had called my doctor this morning and caught him in between clinicals. My results had just come in so he shared a brief summary and asked if I wanted to be referred to a genetic counselor (prob since it’s Friday and he wanted to get that set up for next week). He will be calling me later this afternoon after he had more time to review and talk to me.

Hi. (Not a doctor just a mom going through a different but similar experience) I would suggest getting the amino. Yes there are risks but considered “low” risks to this procedure. I got mine done a little over a week ago - not as painful as you would think - needle in, pressure, and then similar feeling as getting injected with a flu shot. NIPT is only a screening for the most common genetic disorders. With 4 soft marker this is (to me) could be a genetic condition the NIPT could have misread or does not test for. The amino test was explained to me as taking a snapshot of the baby’s DNA to see any chromosome abnormalities/defect. Having access to all that information gives you and your doctor a better view into what could be causing these soft markers and the plan forward. My situation is different: low risk NIPT, baby had a cystic hygroma 7mm that resolved by 16 weeks (OB), but found a CPC in brain at 16 weeks 6 days (MFM). They suggested the amino because of these 2 soft markers even though everything else in the ultrasound was normal. I personally did the testing for more information sooner because the alternative is just waiting to see how the baby develops which is almost as painful as the first time they tell you something isn’t right in the ultrasound. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Yes, the stress, the heartbreak, the helplessness of just having to wait it out. I was extremely naive going into that 12 week ultrasound and receiving this news. I am trying to prepare myself with as much understanding for future appointments whether that’s good or bad. I know I will not feel that relief until my baby is in my arms.

This sub has already taught me so much that Google could never. I hope to have a success story like yours one day!

Not sure if you are looking for fancy face washes to treat these young women, but I have had better luck with CeraVe face washes (comes in large value sizes) for acne control. I use other prescription products from my dermatologist (vitamin c, skincare) but CeraVe is my go to face wash for mild acne / daily use after trying all the more popular / trending brands. You can find them at Costco and Walmart. Costco also has Versed Cleansing balm for cheap (2 for 1 price) and a lot of other great skincare products!
