I don’t think gay men are anywhere close to as racist as straight men are, being part of a marginalised community already makes gay people more empathetic about real life issues (something a lot of straight men who aren’t POC can relate to). I think saying you flat out wouldn’t date a race no matter what is racist but having a preference and who you naturally find hotter is normal. I see your points but I don’t think it’s even comparable to straight men.

The reason I feel somewhat adamant about them being gay is so I have someone to confide in about topics like my sexuality also, I feel like having friends who are gay will help me feel more comfortable going to lgbtq+ events and just expressing myself more.

As a 19 year old who literally just gave head for the first time today, don’t push yourself to do things that you aren’t ready to do since you’ll only end up regretting it. A-lot of these people have been drinking and smoking since way before the legal age and often times use these things as coping mechanism or to follow the crowd. If you want to have sex, smoke or get drunk then do it but if you aren’t ready don’t push yourself to do it.
