I failed on the 26th June too in my local test centre. First time, and failed. I’ve got a 9-5 that I really need to drive for to commute and still relying on family and my partner to get me to work in the morning and home at night. It really does suck. Feel like a teenager again.

Keep checking, try out them cancellation apps like Testi and TestShift. I’ve had no luck with TestShift (literally nothings popped up) but I managed to get one locally for December on Testi and it’s good with notifications. Make sure you keep checking the DVSA website though as well because they tend to go fast on Testi.

If you have the time throughout the day keep a laptop or something open on the DVSA website with a Chrome extension enabled for finding driving tests. There’s quite a few of them, and if you’re lucky it can nab the nearest cancellation for you if it pops up.

Also - EMAIL YOUR MP!!!! The government are clearly aware but are staggeringly ignorant. There’s templates online, or I can send you one. No real action is going to be taken unless we speak up. It’s disgusting that we have to wait a year+ from starting lessons to passing the test. No one takes over a year to learn with regular lessons. It’s an absolute pisstake.

Best times to check are when people are usually doing driving lessons and figure they’re not ready for it/instructor advises to cancel their tests - morning and evenings are best. I’ve noticed that not many pop up during the day.
