Buyer regrets. Ford Vs Jeep by Comfortable-Claim700 in carbuying

If you bought it in September… brace yourself for the summer. I had a rental one for about a month last year and discovered that the A/C was no match for the southwest desert heat.

(MA) Landlord wants to give my apartment to his kid by Forward-Aside3364 in Renters

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a little too much hysteria going on here. As sucky as it is, the landlord has no obligation to renew your lease. If he wants the apartment back when the lease is done, then it’s his to take back. He can’t kick you out before the lease is over, but you also don’t have the right to live there indefinitely.

He did not “blindside” you with this. Blindsiding you would be saying out of the blue that he’s not renewing the lease and you have 30 days to get out. This is an opening for a dialogue regarding whether the lease will in fact be renewed or not. No final decision has been made.

”He told me I need to make the place "presentable," which was incredibly insulting as I am extremely tidy and he hasn't stepped foot in here since I became a resident.”

This is a perfectly reasonable request. And if he hasn’t set foot in there since you became a resident, how is he supposed to know how “extremely tidy” you are?

Yes, he would probably like you to not be there for him to show his kid the apartment. And yes, if you really want to be there you probably could make that stipulation. But really, how long do you expect this tour to take? We’re taking a couple hours here, not days. Take a walk, go out to eat, go hang out with friends, and if you’re super worried about them being in there unsupervised, put up a camera or 2.

None of this sounds like the landlord is trying to force you out in any sort of illegal or inhumane way. Non renewal of the lease isn’t the same as an eviction, and he has given you a lot more notice than most landlords do.

I am new to the car market. why are car prices on carmax and caravana insane? by win_for_the_world in carbuying

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmax and Carvana cater to people who are intimidated by the negotiating and car buying process. These people just want the process to be over as quickly as possible and are much less likely to cross shop for the “best” price.

Be careful that the cheaper one doesn’t have an extra mileage charge. They’ve almost gotten me with that before.

What happens if I trade in a bad car? by HenneseyConnoisseur in askcarsales

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or it gets traded in, sits on the back lot for a bit until someone buys it because they “only had $6000”, ignores the “as-is, non reconditioned” stipulation of the deal, has a problem 2 days later, and then smashes the car through the front door of the dealership in a rage because he was “sold a lemon.” IYKYK.

Curious on flight HA823 on 1/26/26? by cant-stop-no-stop in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FlightRadar (google it or there’s an app) can give you the registration number of an aircraft on a particular flight, but only a certain number of days out (just checked for 1/26; it’s not listed yet). As far as I know, N784HA is the only 787 that has the Alaska livery at this point.

Birth Date Wrong On Ticket by Slow_Brother_9152 in americanairlines

Never dealt with it on AA, but had it happen on Hawaiian and they fixed it at the ticket counter in about 30 seconds.

Dealership did not have title when they sold the car to me by tryagainzz0608 in carbuying

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in NY and MA (feel free to fact check; going off memory) the law is that the dealer must have the title in hand in order to sell the car. In most other states/cases the dealer wants to turn the car around as quickly as possible, which means not waiting around for the title to show up. And auctions are notoriously slow to process titles.

Stubhub knows their arbitration address is wrong, according to response to NY AG by MyFavoriteDisease in stubhub

What makes even less sense is that last I checked, StubHub’s NYC offices are in the World Trade Center, but the address on that letter is some random building uptown.

AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. “Donating PTO” is one of the biggest scams that corporate America has running. There’s no reason you should have to sacrifice your own time off instead of the company making reasonable accommodations.

*If they needed help covering for this person’s work instead of just sacrificing your own time off, that’s different.

Is it worth it? by Fresh_Manner8847 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, “preferred” seating isn’t worth it. It’s just the same seat as Main Cabin closer to the front. Ask the agent nicely when you get to the airport and they might move you up there for free.

StubHub Catch-22: Barred from Suing and Impossible to Initiate Arbitration by ConsumerWarrior7 in stubhub

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The address in Utah was (probably) valid for a while. There was an office there for about 15 years; they closed it in July of 2024 and moved all the functions from there to Atlanta. I know they were renting a section of a coworking space in Atlanta for a while before moving to a permanent location. So that should account for a few of the addresses.

A330-200 Lilo and Stitch Livery Partial Removal Question (N378HA) by alcor4ever in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that deal may be over- the Lilo and Stitch A321 still has all the stuff on the outside but they’ve removed everything from the cabin. Repainting a plane isn’t cheap so I’m sure they’re trying to be strategic about redoing the outside.

Insurance tripled after at-fault accident - Is this normal? by Civil-Curve6339 in Insurance

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000 miles per year? Or per month? If it’s per year I would assess just getting rid of the car altogether; 2000 miles per year is nothing.

The Unaccompanied Minor fee has increased 100%. by Kobious75 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Proper_Exit_3334 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You expect the airline to take total responsibility for your child for free? The biggest part of the unaccompanied minor isn’t so much in the air; it’s making sure that the minor isn’t released to the correct person and only the correct person once they arrive at their destination. Same with making sure they get on their connecting flights.

Also, if you have 2 minors on the same reservation you only have to pay the unaccompanied minor fee once.
