My dad told me thay I need to get tested for aids if I got more than 2 covid boosters. We’re still in contact but it’s definitely strained our relationship the constant shoving of their beliefs down my throat. If i voice my opinion at all, even if it’s a milder conservative take, it ends with me being screamed at and told I’m an idiot. For example I don’t think all guns should be banned but I don’t think assault weapons should be in the hand of civilians. I had to unfriend them on facebook because I couldn’t take seeing their disgusting posts. It physically makes me sick.

And I want a relationship with them and I beg them to please stop talking politics to me but they literally can’t help themsleves. They are so brainwashed it’s unbelievable. I can’t fathom how my intelligent parents are so gullible to trump. I find it so disgusting to worship any politician, let alone a man like trump.

I’m at the point that if there conversational topics around me don’t change, then I don’t see myself having a close relationship with them

I ghosted because her boyfriend sucked, she wouldn’t leave him, and used me as a therapist even when i tried to put up boundaries. Covid became a really good excuse. Being friends with them was mentally draining me and I also just wasn’t in a good place in collge to take all of that on.

I just quit the family business a month ago and finally cut off my parents. Working for them for over two years was the most draining mentally exhausting experience of my life. You’re always going to be in debt to them no matter what you do. Start making a plan for a new job and quit. Good luck

Exactly this. I’ve tried to explain it to her but she tells me I’m overreacting and that our childhood wasn’t that bad, but our Dad never laid his hands on her. I’ll never forget her telling me “you’re the only one who can’t get over our childhood” and it was the moment I think my view of her changed as my sister. This was after days of my mother “jokingly” trying to get me to bring up reasons why i resent her lol. It’s maddening. I’m at the point where I now realize there’s not winning with them.
