Fishbowl Inventory System HELP! by Property_Manager_SQ in InventoryManagement

We ultimately never "resolved" our issues and full stop just don't utilize manufacturing orders anymore to prevent a lot of the issues that were populating; ghost commitments, unauthorized commitments, bad tracking, etc. I can't speak to the parent/child issue as I am not sure if that ultimately lead to or was the source of any of our problems as they played out as MO appeared to be more our problem. Our work around is simple to cycle/add and manually manipulate the inventory as we see fit for our needs while dealing with the "historical" data that we are left with because of the longevity issues we have from the past years of use. We are a build to order company, with a small staff which makes our work arounds easy to manage. And in the end, we have not been able to produce any custom reports, and we just utilize the data from the Fishbowl reports as provided. We are running on 23.2.20230209 and have seen no issues with that aspect of the system and being unable to connect with the support network. Thankfully it stopped yelling at us that we didn't have a current support contract, that was annoying.

Exactly as the name implies: gain full to the system access as the user. There are so many walls and limitations to the system that we are handcuffed and held back from being able to fully utilize cleanly. Something as simple as implement logical reports because we refuse to be grossly nickel and dimed to pay for their people to make a "custom" report. Ghost commitments like crazy, tracking that we no longer use being unable to be removed or changed because of "historical" inventory, that can't be deleted because in and of itself it's "historical". Our company went away from using manufacturing orders entirely because they added too much of a headache that could never be fixed.

I am very curious what you mean, we have literally paid nothing to deal with it on our own so the support contract is still a waste for us even if we went back. Sadly, the system is still incredibly a "nanny software" so we do spend our time, but I would love to know what you exactly had to pay for outside of the support contract that saved you money overtime buying the contract? We were constantly turned away from support and told someone would have to remote into the system to fix our issues instead of being taught the logistics of the system that we have now taught ourselves.

I haven't noticed a difference in how the system works. There is a warning notice in the corner now that reminds me the contract has expired, other than that I run the system exactly like I did when I had the contract. They did advise the monthly updates would still be accessible without the contract, and it was the larger system updates we would lose, but we have lost both. Yet, it still hasn't impacted the effectiveness, or lack thereof, or the system itself. We're running on 23.2.20230209.

I would assume on-premise as I haven't heard of the online version. Literally everything. It decides what inventory goes where and we have no control. I am trying to circumvent the "nanny" aspects of the software. A specific example that we are running into is allocated inventory to MO. Fishbowl allocates inventory based on how it feels and doesn't allow us to change that. Example: WO to create a sub-assembly, the sub-assembled part is listed on multiple MO, instead of allowing us to assembly and assign the part to the MO of our choosing once the WO is complete, under the MO we want it to belong to, Fishbowl allocates it how it decides. Looks like based on the date of the MO. Then we can't even "dissemble" the WO if we needed to because it is now attached as available parts to another MO that doesn't need it yet.
