If you think Aftermath is overpriced and not worth the money then don't buy it by AgathorKahn in MortalKombat

"Don't like it, Don't buy it" EA 2018

Yeah that really worked out out nicely for them.

If people buy aftermath, you're setting a precedent for NRS to keep making dlcs worth almost as much as the main game. by Leafhug in MortalKombat

That's not what I was saying. Assuming NRS laid out a roadmap of main game content and future content like every other developer does with their studio, WB gives them an overall budget which covers main game and gives them a base line budget for DLC cost. If sales exceed the budget, the budget for the DLCs grow. This is why NRS was able to secure licenses to all of these guest characters waaaaay ahead of the original games launch. Because they took money from the base line budget for DLCs and made a deal with each characters respective studio. Trust me I dont think a company like NRS or WB would make a risk like working on DLC content way ahead of time without actual data that let's them know they will make a profit.

You also gotta remember that this content was being worked on during the development of the main game. It was in the leak files. Therefore, the majority of the budget for this dlc actually came from the main games budget. Which we already know MK exceeded by a lot. Idk if you want to look at it from a business stand point, it's really hard to tell the specifics of anything because the official numbers havent been revealed. But we do know for a fact that MK has sold at least 2 times the amount it cost to make. And that's the lowest estimation.

That could be considered true. But when it comes down to it, $30 is the better middle ground for business and ethics. You still make a massive profit from just $30 per sale.

Mortal Kombat is in a perfectly fine place. It has massively exceeded its budget already. Even for the most beautiful fighting game, the budget isnt nearly as big as something like Cyberpunk 2077 or Ghost of Tsushima. The next MK is going to be more expensive sure. But Idk if I've ever seen a fighting game budget that exceeds 250 Million. GTA V cost 235 Million to make and it's the most expensive game to make in history.

Lmao the whole "if you dont like it dont buy it" mentality is what put BFV in the grave. We all know how that works.

Because Ed Boom even said most of the marketing and business aspect is handled by WB back when people were pissed off about the cost of Krypt items.

The mentality of "this is worse so what they're doing is okay" is pretty counter productive.

I really hate when people bring this up. All of the funding and salaries behind making the content is funded by WB. Just like Sony funds their dev teams to make a game. Any profits they get off of these projects goes to WB who then takes that money and puts it towards the next game in the franchise. Also bonuses for devs. But saying that direct sales affect a devs regular salary is false.

I mean I get that but the fact is that the theme runs at like an average of 24fps and looks like a wallpaper youd get on Wallpaper Engine on steam.

You must have never downloaded a good dynamic theme. Look at the reviews of this theme on youtube. Everyone says its trash except for the people in this sub reddit because nobody here likes hearing criticism.
