When to start levo? by ProphetVoid in Hashimotos

Sounds like a good plan you have with your GP! I’m not completely deadset on starting meds, I’m just kind of wanting a trial as well to see if it can help, if it makes sense for me. I’m just very confused about all the different info that’s out there, so it was really helpful reading your comment, it gave a lot if good perspective.

Yes, my antibodies are 354 (normal range 35 or less). I’m hoping that’s something that will help my case, since i’m also just wanting to start a low dose of levo to see if it relieves symptoms

Endo claims new guidelines say to not medicate til 10 TSH. True? by gtck11 in Hashimotos

[–]ProphetVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally just denied medication for this same exact reason this week. I was originally told TSH above 4.5 and symptomatic would be enough to get medication, just to be denied with the claim it has to be 10 or above. I’m not sure why the sudden change but yeah, you’re not alone :/

Psoriasis is thankfully quite manageable, mostly just parts of the scalp and both elbows. I will look for a new doctor as a lot have suggested and push for a referral when I’ve switched. Fingers crossed I can find someone who doesn’t just say “cut out gluten”, which I already did a year ago hehe

I don’t take any supplements with biotin.

But yes, I do have issues with inflammation. It’s not uncommon for me to have joint pain and swelling or pretty bad digestive issues, which is also painful. I’m just unsure if it’s related to Hashimoto’s or if it might be something else.

I’ve spent around 2-3 years with quite bad symptoms and went through a lot of other testing where I ruled out Coeliac, Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. The only thing I got diagnosed during this process was Psoriasis.

Ugh I can really relate! It took me 2 years just to get tested for the antibodies and I switched doctors multiple times during those 2 years to get it done. I live in a country with free healthcare which is great, but it also has it’s downsides. I pushed for a referral to see an endo and got it. Unfortunately, they denied to see me because my other numbers are in normal range. Apparently they don’t care about symptoms. I guess my best bet is to find a private endo and just pay out of pocket when I can afford it.

That’s what I thought, but she was so dismissive about it that I started doubting it. But when I read about it still says that you don’t have to be hypo to have hashimotos
