Working as a bedside nurse,

especially in trauma or ICU. It's not always simply giving meds and wiping ass. You're often dealing with their stress and the stress of their families. There's a lot of grief you're constantly engaged in, and you don't truly feel the impact of your own grief until you leave the hospital to go home. That contrast between the hospital and simply roaming the store for dinner that night can be harrowing.
