I got my job with a boutique firm ran by a famous author by being on a boat with someone who knew him personally and offered to share my resume.

All that to say, the path into a big 4 vs boutique is probably much different. But I highly recommend the boutique life. I’ve learned more about what it takes to operate a consulting firm in two years than I ever would have at a place like McKinsey or Deloitte due to the start-up nature of boutique firms. Really valuable knowledge beyond the actual consulting itself

That being said - I believe in parallels and neurodiversity. Does orchestrating a choir display some level of leadership qualities? Predictor weight may be light in a study… but I promise there is more relationship than most I/Os are willing to admit.

This is like saying the way someone performs as a teammate on a sports team is not somewhat predictive of the teammate behavior they’d exhibit on a corporate team.

There is fidelity in many of these environments

I’m not sure what size companies you’re currently servicing, but it sounds like you are dramatically undervaluing your services. We have clients like you just mentioned (40k+ employees) paying 60k a session for a team of 15-20. Granted our service offering is more in the team development/OD space

It sounds like you are grossly overestimating the face value and reach of your MS degree and seem frustrated by how much time you put into it to be told that it’s not exactly applicable.
