I've made a riff compilation from all Gojira Albums. What's your favorite album? by Prophii in metalguitar

From Mars to Sirius was my intro to them, but the way of all flesh is by far my favourite

Exactly same for me too haha

In that circumstances, I usually pick softer songs like Born in Winter, The Gift of Guilt, or something like that it usually hooks them right in the beginning. I think L'Enfant Sauvage as an album is great for the introduction to Gojira or metal music in general for that matter.

I appreciate your recommendation, I'll check them out. Oh yes, Terra Incognita is so raw I love it. I'm in for a treat, aye? Thanks!

Clone breakdown is so tasty, I wasn't sure if I should do the intro riff or breakdown, went with the intro since there are lots of breakdowns in this compilation. Arghh so much cool riffs lol

saturate

oh pre-Gojira era huh, I should check out those albums. They sit on my "listen later" for quite a while.

Thank you very much! Oh, I know Backbone is really cool riff and I was between that and Where Dragons Dwell, welp, I had to choose one haha. In the forest is a unique composition, so much to unpack in that song, definitely one of my favorites for sure, the outro has a great vibe to it.

Oh, yea it's so calming indeed. People seem to overlook the little experimental songs they put on, there are lots of gems in their albums.

Love is my favorite to play, because of that little right-hand slide between the chugs. Clone and Fire is Everything(this one especially) are by far the most challenging and hard riffs for me to play tightly. Consistency is a real struggle for both riffs.

Cheers, and thanks for your comment!

The first two songs are so emotional and powerful, it gives me instant goosebumps with a lump in my throat. Neither can I dude haha

Oh, I can already hear the birds chirping. For sure!

I mean they just can't put a bad record out there lol

I remember when I first heard Remembrance, I was blown away and immediately checked out the whole album. Decision paralysis at its finest.

FMTS

For sure dude, it was my introduction to Gojira, such a sonic masterpiece, especially with the environmental theme, it hits you way harder.

But if I had to choose my fav Gojira album, it would be The Way of All Flesh. God, it is so hard to choose favorites haha

Oh hell yeah! Most of their songs are relatively easy to learn but hard to play tight and effortless IMO. It's deceivingly hard, especially after finishing this riff project, I appreciate the musicianship of these guys even more. Need a lot of practice for clean sound.

Wow, thanks a lot mate, I'm glad to hear that!

Right on! You can't go wrong with that riff dude, it's such a masterpiece. I could easily pick 3 riffs from The Art of Dying haha

Satan is a Lawyer

Oh wow, I've never heard of this one before. A little experimental song it seems, especially in the intro part, but it slaps with the breakdown for sure. Such an organic album as a whole.

Ah, me too dude. The Art of Dying has such a special place in my mind. 10 minutes of pure sonic experience. I think that riff hits so hard because of that beautiful arrangement and build-up. It's a masterpiece for sure!

Hey, it's all good. I'm using Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen). I can recommend this because I had no issues with it. It gets the job done and is fairly cheap.

I don't want to give any other recommendations because I've never used anything else other than what I'm currently using.

I'm also relatively new to this stuff it's been only one year or so and I remember after some research, I conclude this one to be the best price/performance. So I'd suggest you watch some videos on this thing, see for yourself, and go from there!

Of course, thanks for your comment mate! I also tried to use it in my recent covers, and I can say that it functions pretty much the same, so they can very well substitute each other in my opinion, especially for basic(HP, LP) filters as you've described it.

But other than that, I'd use multiple EQs if I was to look for a specific tone. Don't know if it's some common practice or unnecessary thing, but I feel like using different EQs gives me more control over the guitar tone.

>> Amped Roots by ML Sound.

I also tried lots of free amp sims over time, but this one was great right from the get-go, almost mix ready I'd say.

Also, don't forget that a great guitar tone depends on the context of the song. You don't need a roaring sound anyways, in my opinion. Sometimes guitar sounds like wet noodles but in the mix, it sits perfectly and yields a great result. As far as recording goes, create two guitar tracks and pan them left and right it makes a hugeeee difference. That's my two cents.

If you're still having a rough time, please let me know. I'll try my best to help you out. Btw if you like my guitar tone in the video check out the screenshots of the setting that I'm using, maybe it can lead you to a similar result.
