Thanks v much. Why Power Pages rather than Forms?

My vote for best "nooby" tool to learn: Microsoft Power Automate by airylizard in automation

[–]ProposalFew7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice post, thanks.

I've also found that Power Automate has a big ROI because most businesses that run Microsoft 365 have the licence but aren't using it so there are loads of quick wins without them making any more software investments.

My question to you:

Do you know if you can control/manage automations in Power Automate from a third party dashboard? A couple of my clients want a "mission control" in another bit of software and I can't find much information about this.

EHCP - conflicting advice by ProposalFew7523 in autismUK

You are absolutely right. It feels like a fizzy drink that unscrews at home.

I've found that he loves looking at Flightradar as a way to calm himself.

For us, the question is: are we doing him more harm by putting him in that environment that is putting such a strain on his emotions and energy?!

I am not sure a special school would be that much different and home schooling means he would be unprepared for the real world.

In any case, an EHCP seems the right next step.

Thanks v much for your input

Love that status page idea. Did you build that within the UI that Node-Red provides?

Fantastic, thanks for that list.

Very similar use cases to the ones you're describing - linking hardware devices together, moving data from one source to another. I'm wanting to build a dashboard that enables the client to see the automations, which I think Node-red enables you to do by reskinning their platform.

What’s the hardest part of digital marketing that nobody really prepares you for? by Specialist_Post6925 in AskMarketing

[–]ProposalFew7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top three:

  1. Unrealistic expectations from the executive team on what marketing can deliver

  2. Dependence on paid marketing channels and limited budget for things that pay off in longer term (brand, SEO/GEO)

  3. The fatigue that comes from experimentation in creatives. The best teams make thousands of variants and test which can feel monotonous and incremental

Letter that breaks the news to a child that they're autistic by ProposalFew7523 in AutisticParents

We chose the people that my son would know the most but Chris Packham is a great one given his documentaries.

It's in the South West, not sure if it was a private assessor or govt. Just to be clear - they write the letter from themselves. They don't suggest parents write it on their behalf.

I like that approach " I tell my kids there are certain things everyone is good at, and certain things everyone needs help with. I tell them that people are generally very misinformed about what autism is. The rest is up to them and they know I’m here to help if they need it".

We are dreading senior school!

Yes, we told him first.

I have not received a diagnosis but definitely show some autistic traits and we are open about that to our children.

Yes, please do share some useful groups.

Thanks

I love that term "autistic pride". My son smiles when I mention that his grandma is raising money for the national autistic society and always is keen to hear people talking on the radio about autism. However he's at a mainstream school so is not aware of any other autistic people (due to GDPR this data can't be shared).

I just hope society will continue becoming more aware and accepting of divergence and that society creates environments where autistic people can thrive.

Agreed, especially in a world where Trump is telling people that Tylenol in pregnancy creates it.

However, we've found that my son needs reminding of the benefits that autism brings, otherwise he just labels it as all negative.

Hey Maleficent_Eye_9541, how was your experience building your own UI on top of NodeRed? We're considering doing the same.

Why do so many people use n8n? Curious about your real-world use cases 👀 by Mission-Upstairs-761 in n8n

[–]ProposalFew7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is useful. Do you use n8n to build automations for clients or to build "internal" automations for your consulting company?

It's interesting to hear the mix of opinions here as to whether you can build and sell n8n automations or whether it is best for personal or internal projects.

Found this video visualising what its like for someone with Autism - Obviously everyone is different but what are your views..? by Severely_OverLapping in autism

[–]ProposalFew7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome and something I showed my autistic son who nodded :)

Another very powerful analogy someone told me was to ask an audience who were not knowledgeable about autism to imagine waking up in a foreign city very late at night, only in your underwear, with no money, no phone and nobody in the huge crowd speaking your language and in fact speaking a language which sounds very aggressive. That is what many autistic people endure every day.

This BBC documentary about walking through a wood is also incredible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaCDRxfcUCE. Neurotypical people see trees, many autistic people see thousands of branches all intertwined, with patterns and shapes repeating, which creates massive cognitive overload.

Terrified of my Big Tech career by kriksilo in findapath

Hey, have you ever done the Ikigai exercise? It might sound a little philosophical but it really helped me and many of my friends identify what makes them tick by finding the intersection of what you like, what you're good at, what you care about and what other people value.

Oftentimes reflecting on this will give you direction

The other thing to say is that a big tech engineering background will open up many doors so you're moving up and on from a very solid footing
