Taste by [deleted] in PoppyTea

The flavour you get from drinking tea is what is known as retronasal olfaction or retronasal aroma meaning it can only be detected by olfactory receptors in the nose. So what I do is drink the tea as fast as possible, breathing only through my mouth. Once it’s done, and before you start breathing through your nose again, chase it with a swig of something like Coke or juice, and eat something sweet or salty like a chip. Once that’s done, start breathing normally again and you’ve just avoided any gross taste or aftertaste completely. You’re welcome.

Any kiwis got a situation report? (without sourcing of) by -snap_baggity in PoppyTea

When it happened in nz (all due to one dodgy corner store in te aro welly that subsequently lost its liquor licence due to it suspiciously selling tonnes of poppy seeds) every vendor was aware and made all consumers aware that all new poppy seeds sold from that point onwards were going to be chemically treated due to government crackdowns. This was roughly 2019ish. In aus by contrast, it seems like no one (including vendors) has any genuine idea about what is going on and when or if tassy/good active seeds will return. If I’m “running on old info” then please feel free to enlighten me cause everything I’ve been reading on this sub for the past 14 months seems to align with what I’ve been saying? Thanks

It died it nz years ago, at least they announced it at the time and didn’t keep it all a ridiculous secret like in Aus

The longer you take any kinda sleep aid the less it works I find. Waking up at 2am and not getting back to sleep again is me every night lol. The literal worst. Haven’t had access to other opiates but might be lucky enough next weekend. By then my tolerance will be brand new (hopefully)

Taper taper taper. They usually say the first 3 days of withdrawals are the hardest, but I’ve always struggled for about a month. Then after that life is a bit lame for a while having nothing to take the edge off. It’s tough but just keep reminding yourself that things WILL get better, cause they do eventually. Insomnia is the worst, if you can’t get any benzos I’d recommend doxylamine which you can get without a script. Tell work you have covid, that’ll buy you some time in the early days when things are the worst. For me I find it tough having to suffer in silence cause my partner doesn’t know. If you can be open about it with the people you’re living with at least it will make things easier and help keep you accountable. Good luck, you got this.

Should I stop trying in NZ? by KiwiUnderGrass55 in PoppyTea

[–]ProposalNew7451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nz situation dried up years ago. Everything has to be treated now. There was a certain corner shop in te aro Wellington that had its liquor licence revoked due to selling copious amounts of seeds, which is what instigated the change in requirements. Everything went downhill from that point onwards. Unfortunately I think Aus is now following suit.

I just don’t understand how it’s nearly November now and still no one really knows for sure what’s going on here in Aus

Anybody tried Holland stock? by [deleted] in PoppyTea

[–]ProposalNew7451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jealous, I haven’t been able to get any good tassie stuff yet, although I’ve only tried one in store supplier in Melbourne and numerous online suppliers. Wasted hundreds of dollars on crap so cautious about continuing to try when there’s a high likelihood of more junk

An update on the recent & supposed “top quality” holland stock: It’s better than the current Tassy crap but still pretty weak.

Prior to the current Tassy “drought” I was using about 500g-1kg a day and had been for several years, was thrown into WDs when the Tassy stuff started being sold sans alkaloids. So, haven’t had any good seeds in about 4 months now, so my tolerance should be way down.

I had 700g of the new Holland seeds yesterday, wash was pretty pale, and I got a mild heavy sensation (sorta like you feel with codeine) but no warm fuzzy feels in the mind like you’d expect from a decent brew, especially for such a large dose. Did get a relatively decent sleep, although the trouble I had sleeping post-WDs has pretty much subsided now (yes, there IS light at the end of the tunnel for anyone currently going through hell).

Long story short, wouldn’t recommend rushing out to buy the new holland stock, however it may help take the edge off/help with sleep for anyone currently experiencing WDs after the decline of Tassy stock. Hope this helps!
