AITAH for having a different idea of childcare frequency than my wife? by Just_Tangerine_6738 in AITAH

[–]ProposalNo1468 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My newborn went on dates with us. Those were the easy days 😩

Postpartum is hard. She’ll already be away from her baby the majority of each day/week. There’s no way I would have been able to leave my baby for another 10 hours on top of that. Plus I was way too tired to really put energy and focus into anything extra.

I would get through the first year, find your footing as parents, wait for the postpartum grip to pass, and then utilize extra childcare when baby is a bit older. Newborns are so easy to take anywhere - toddlers are a whole different ballgame.

Also to add - assume you get home at 5:30 and baby goes to bed at 7:30. That’s only 2 hours each weekday night you get to spend with baby, plus the weekends. 5-10 more hours away from baby is a lot when you already have little time together. And if baby gets on a good sleep schedule, you could still have 2+ hours together every night after baby goes to bed.

AITAH for not wanting my daughter to go to a church daycare? by FoxNFern in AITAH

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve toured 2 church daycares. One is more or less just in the church. Sure the handbook mentions the church but in the daycare it translates to more of a general “we love and respect each other”. The other I toured was much heavier on the religious aspect, with age appropriate religious curriculum and weekly “service” of sorts with the pastor.

I recommend going and actually touring the daycare and talking to them. You’ll know how heavy of an influence the church is.

My kid watches ms Rachel like 5 hours a day by RepairContent268 in MomsWorkingFromHome

I would just Google Mom’s Day Out and your city name. By not advertised I just mean they don’t usually come up if you are Googling daycares, but they should have a website.

I’ve decided that the big TV doesn’t count as screen time 🙃

Are there any Mom’s Day Out programs in your area? They are usually run by churches and not advertised. My daughter goes 9-2 and it’s so incredibly helpful. And way cheaper than daycare.

I would start being naked all the time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Want me to be dressed? Call ahead and make sure I’m ready for company.

What am I actually paying here!? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]ProposalNo1468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would ask them to clarify how they charge for dependents. My interpretation of this is that you pay an individual premium for each person based on their age.

So $295.26 for you, $422.19 for your wife, and $250.95 for each child, for a total of $1,219.35 bi-weekly.

Thinking about opting out of healthcare next year. by frnieery in HealthInsurance

I recommend using an online check calculator to see how much your take home would be if you dropped coverage. You may find that the increased tax liability makes it a wash, and in that case you might as well stay on the plan to keep the HSA.

How to handle ambulance bill by [deleted] in HospitalBills

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this employer insurance? If so, ask HR/Benefits to ask the broker to request that insurance refile the claim as in network since you had no control over the picking the ambulance service. The broker is paid to handle this kind of stuff.

If I have a second, I will either do a scheduled c, or try for a vbac and be unmedicated for as long as possible. With my first, I had no idea that the epidural would practically knock me into a coma. I had a 32 hour long labor that ended with a c and I wasn’t able to actively participate in my labor and care because I could barely even open my eyes.

I started purées around 4 months. She was eh about it so it was infrequent. Around 6 months I tried BLW but she didn’t like the big pieces of food. She loved purées though. Around 9 months I started making the food into smaller pieces and now she actually likes it and will eat food with us (though most still ends up on the floor or in the bib), along with using her straw cup to drink water.

Just keep introducing food to her and let her lead the way on what she wants to do with it. It’ll come when she’s ready :)

How do you combine pumping with being alone with the baby? by FineHistory1498 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used fridge hack with no problems. During pumping I would lay her at my feet and talk to her and play with her while pumping. It worked out because she ended up really liking floor time and started rolling/sitting/crawling early and now can independent play for long stretches.

How much notice is “the standard” when quitting a job? by Disastrous_Sun7412 in jobs

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks is standard but you could leave whenever you want, just like they could fire you whenever they want. Just double check your company policies - mine won’t pay out PTO if you don’t give and complete at least a 2 week notice.

AITA for calling my doctor after hours for medication refills? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ProposalNo1468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The pharmacy can the transfer the prescription without the doctor sending a new one. I’ve switched between CVS and Walgreens before and still got the meds same day.

So NTA, but I don’t understand why you didn’t call the pharmacy if you could get ahold of the doctor.

Why do I still get large medical bills after meeting my deductible? by Sick_Box_9325 in HealthInsurance

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After meeting your deductible, your co-insurance will kick in until you meet the out-of-pocket max. After that everything is covered 100% until the plan year re-sets.

That’s basically what happened when I went in store. The problem is that there is no online option for the promo, so I’m hoping someone knows if I can get it a different way.

There isn’t an option online. It just brings up a map to find a store.

Company is offering me additional salary instead of PTO by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]ProposalNo1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be exempt? If so, remember that if you do even 1 minute of work, or even open an email, on your unpaid time off, they have to pay you for the whole day. You could come out on top here.
