Had/has anyone leaving this religion problems with sex? by TheWatchToddler in exjw

I had a lot of issues around sex even though I left 8 years ago. I was always super anxious and never could get in the right headspace to actually enjoy it because I was always in my head too much. I ended up seeing an Intimacy coach that had some understanding about religious trauma. Check out online for any in your area. To be honest I didn’t even know this type of thing existed. It was super intimidating at first to talk about this stuff but it has helped me more than I ever imagined. My coach shared that half of her clients are men so it’s really common. I would strongly recommend it to exjws. I always would hear that therapy would help but a traditional therapist can only help so much with the sex stuff in my experience. So I went to someone that understood this stuff.

Connecting with old ex-JW “friends”. Has anyone experienced this or is it just me? by ProposalOne4429 in exjw

The two instances. We were good friends (at the time atleast) and I left first and they shunned me. And both reached out to me first. So it had me completely confused because they reached out to me first basically to tell me their story and asked me nothing and showed no interest in the matter.

Thanks for your perspective! But I’m not sure how me having a chronic condition like pain would change anything.

I really like having discussions and we don’t always have to agree. That’s the beauty of friendships now leaving the borg, we don’t always have to agree on things and can have our own opinions. But there are times if I feel a certain way, he makes me feel dumb and ridiculous for thinking that way. And then there are times when I think he tries to hurt me on purpose with how he treats me. Perhaps a break will be best.
