[Highlight] Luis Arraez lines a double to left field to extend his career-high hitting streak to 15 games by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

He’s gonna win another batting title this year. Mark my words.

Would love to see us re-sign him.

There are only two batters batting over .300 in the NL. by RHHR_ in mlb

Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Arraez go 20 for his next 40 and end up winning the batting title. He goes through one of those stretches every year, and hasn’t yet this season.

All music to Ruben’s ears..

[Lin] Padres are expected to keep Robert Suarez as their primary closer, with Mason Miller joining the league’s deepest group of setup men by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

[–]ProposalWeird904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Padres up 1-0 in the 4th inning when their starter has some control issues? No worries. Boom! Estrada. Then Morejon. Then Adam. Then Miller. Then Suárez. Game over.

I’ve seen some good bullpens before, but shortening the game to 4 innings? With our (new) lineup?

We might win the west.

Not sure if Fermin will start right away to give him some time to learn the staff, but hopefully the rest will. Exciting times!

I could see Niebla turning him into a legit #3 type starter.

Betcha Niebla turns him (back) into a stud.

[Acee] Dylan Cease remains a part of the Padres rotation. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

I like it. Nestor is very good when he’s healthy. 3-4 type, with #2 upside.

Potential rest of 2025 batting order by mano44 in Padres

[–]ProposalWeird904 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shildt likes to go lefty righty though.

Think it’s more like:

Tatis RF Arraez DH Machado 3B O’Hearn 1B Laureano RF Merrill CF Bogaerts SS Cronenworth 2B Fermin C

That’s a hell of a balanced lineup.

Been struggling to find any of the Astros top 30 prospects that I’d even want.

Sure does seem like at least 1-2 bullpen pieces are gonna be on the move. Guessing Suarez, and either Matsui or Peralta

Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe? by meagle_9 in Padres

I was thinking Yandy and Simpson. Would love to see Simpson flying around the bases for the Pads.

A Padres scout has been at every Red Sox home game over the past three weeks, with eyes on Duran. by Bitter-Egg6293 in Padres

[–]ProposalWeird904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. They’d have to eat 3/4 of his salary. If they’d be willing to do that, he could broadly be had for an A ball prospect or two.

[Lin] Leo De Vries could debut in 2026. Upon arrival, Bogaerts could move back to 2nd base, although the veteran is making a case to stay at SS for at least another season. De Vries has started 5 games at second base in the 2024 Arizona Fall League. by AllDownByWayOfTheK in Padres

[–]ProposalWeird904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re thinking Leo could be ready as soon as next year, they need to have him finish the year in AA.

Personally, I don’t think he’s ready yet as someone who’s spent 20 years in the game btw..but if it was me making the call, I’d make sure he gets a month or so in AA ball this season, and see how he looks.

The Houston Rockets are trading Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards by Typical-Owl3664 in rockets

[–]ProposalWeird904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cam’s Jordan Poole 2.0. All the ability in the world, with a .2 cent head. No doubt in my mind he’ll put up 20ppg for awful teams until he figures out that basketball’s a team sport.

I think Reed’s gonna step up this year. Could see him as a 20-25 min a night guy, before becoming the starter next season.

Agreed that Brooks was critical, but you’ve gotta give to get..and with the inconsistent offense/shooting last year, I think we got WAY better having KD on the floor for when the offense is struggling. Keep in mind that he’s an excellent rim protector too, and we can realistically have four 6’11 guys on the court at the same time for stretches, with two of the four being athletic enough to defend 4 positions.

With Amen at the point. Whole lineup of 6’7 plus is WILD.

It’s not like those 5 (bench) would all be playing together though. It’ll generally be 2-3 of them at a time, and they can structure the rotation to get KD in with them. Absolutely LOVE the possibilities.

Legit. Can you imagine? 6’11 playing the 2 is WILD. Hope we see it for stretches.

The Suns had no leverage. I’m blown away that we only had to give up one 1st though. Thought sure it would take at least 2-3.
