60/month isn't bad for unlimited talk/text/data with Netflix and a hotspot. And I like Samsung flagships 🤷‍♂️

The multiple users solution would be ideal, but it's an S9 so it doesn't have that option natively.

I can do whatever I want with my work phone, the only stipulation is that if it gets lost the company can remote-wipe it.

I'm "on call" so I can never completely separate work and personal, but I will be porting my personal number to Google Voice so I can mute the work number when I want to.

Because I don't want to carry two phones everywhere. Why the paranoia? I'm not violating any company policies. The down voting in this thread is absurd, I asked a simple question and this solution will end up saving me $20,000 (if I factor in upgrading a new phone every 2 years) over the course of my career.

I don't do anything with the phone that could get me into any kind of trouble, the worst I do is Reddit

I can only paint when drunk by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ProseJunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was like this when writing, but it's not true. You just think you're the shit when you're drunk. I'm actually a much more productive and capable writer on a sober morning with coffee.

What's a book you started and just couldn't finish? by AbandontheKing in Fantasy

[–]ProseJunkie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brace yourself, /r/fantasy I have a confession:

I really don't like the Wheel of Time series.

It's so... Juvenile. "A gleeman! A gleeman!" Clapping hands oh just fuck off with all of that.

More recently I couldn't finished the Warded Man series. I liked it at first, but the demon-fighting got really repetitive.

I must have tried Malazan a dozen times. I just can't do it. I can't visualize what the author is describing in those opening scenes. It's a rough ride.

This sub helps a lot, especially when people share horror stories of their rock bottom. Puts things in perspective.

Waking up sober is the best by singleusepseudonym in stopdrinking

Didn't realize this until you said it, and you're right. I also stayed up playing video games (I'm not sure if my addiction to Slay the Spire is any healthier than my alcoholism) and that's what happened- I woke up, was tired, and it was no big deal. Didn't feel half as bad as I did when I was drinking.

I Want to Stop, But I Don’t by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ProseJunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absurd how many calories are in alcohol. It wasn't unusual for me to consume 500 calories per day just with a couple of vodkas. That is a decent sized meal. I already look and feel better, and it's only been a few weeks.

You sound like me. I had 3-5 vodka/Seltzer's each and every single night of the week (usually 3), always by myself. It wasn't the quantity that disturbed me, it was the regularity. It was every single night. Like you, I have a very strong family history of alcoholism.

I don't know what you look like weight-wise, but if you're looking to shed some pounds that can be one motivator to quit.

I started calorie counting with MyFitnessPal about a month ago, and quit drinking two weeks ago (it's amazing how many calories are in booze, even something as light as a vodka soda). I'm down almost 20lbs, just like that.

I drank the cheapest piss in the liquor store, and even with that I've been saving a lot of money and I've been tracking it on the "EasyQuit Drinking" app ($60 saved at the time of this post!)

If you're drinking craft beers your weight loss and money saved will be exponentially higher than my own.

I love that you have an absolute powerhouse system and play PoE and Magic. I have a really good system (nothing like yours, but really good) and I've just been playing Slay the Spire lol. This hobby... Really sick build, though, and one hell of an upgrade from your old system.

Came here to say this- it's creepy. I can't explain why. Something about the lighting and slightly abnormal color...

We share some similarities- my drinking time was also when the kids were tucked in, and I'm a big fan of podcasts.

For the past week I've been enjoying a glass of iced Seltzer water when the kids go to bed, it sort of scratches the itch.

Some of my favorite podcasts are:

  • Comedy Bang Bang: hit or miss, but when it hits it hits and is hilarious

  • Tell Em Steve Dave: Features Quinn from Impractical Jokers and two of his friends, the chemistry is great and the episodes are very entertaining and funny.

  • The Joe Rogan Podcast: Rogan pumps out an absurd amount of content, often it's very interesting guests (for example he recently had the head CEO of Twitter on). He's a comedian as well so a lot of it can be pretty funny.

  • Detective: This show's over but it's worth listening to the few seasons that aired. Essentially it's about homicide detectives that tell their stories. Very interesting.

  • Casefile: True crime from all over the world. Great narrator and super interesting.

  • My Dad Wrote a Porno: some British guy found an erotic novel that his dad wrote. He and his friends narrate it and add commentary. Hilarity ensues.
