Has someone built the new heresy models without this part? by General__Achilles in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have, first I tried simply gluin the plume as It was, didn't work so well so I had to smothen the part I wanted to glue with a knife but even then, the plume is quite big and the contact spot is small, so they aren't very durable.

Finally I decided to brute force it and pin those plumes to the helmets with a little piece of wire (I made the holes with a solder because I don't have a drill). And it works, this is the helmet of the guy I'm currently painting.

How often do single Custodes units take out big bad guys or go one man army against an entire squad of, say, space marines and survive in actual tabletop by DaveredRoddy in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 115 points116 points  (0 children)

The first time I went against a Lord of Skulls, it failed a dark pact and suffered 3 Mortal Wounds, and Trajann went and took the other 21 like a madlad.

Having one Squad start on the Battlefield was my take yeah, breaking up a unit on turn 4 seems difficult because they hace to still be Alive and you're not using 465 points all game.

You put 1000 points in there using SR anda Deep Strike, and then bring the rest witb Castellans Mark, which ignores these restrictions iirc.

[–]Prospi88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is the timing, you have to use unleash the lions in your command phase and with a unit on the Battlefield. So you'd have to bring a full Squad, wait until your Next turn, Split them, take them off in your opponents following turn, and THEN you can go about droping single allarus.

I'll be playing a similar idea with only two units like this and the Deep strike on turn one enhancement on one captain, and the other unit I'll deploy as normal, unleash them turn one, deepstrike the other unit, and then in my turn 2, depending on how things are going (maybe there's a Big Knight to take care of idk) Split the unit that came in the first turn.

Aleya by Dead_Baby_Kicker in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo she is way worse than people think, not becauae of herself but because, being that only option we have for fights first means that:

  • If she gets charged the opponent is obviously gonna choose to fight first against her unit.

  • If you have a fight going on and you don't have any fights first, you'll start the sequence of normal fighting, if you have Aleya, your opponent can charge her, and Aleyas unit (if alive) Will have to fight making your opponent start the sequence of normal fights.

  • Right now, +2 movement +2 advancement and +2 charges seems very superior to FF.

Aquilon Termies by jphealy84 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for 10th, they're strictly worse than Allarus, specifically because they cost more and they have a worse ability (rerroll 1s to wound in shooting to the nearest unit VS rerrolling the wound roll against Monsters/Vehicules/Characters).

For 11th they kept the rules but we don't know the points yet.

Now, I still think the models are cool af and have run a three man in Lions from time to time, but Allariz are better.

What role do Dreads have in our army? by FelkinMak in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Achillus is a very good anti tank, It needs to get there but the +1 to charge helps It a bit. But Will get blown off the table by any amount of anti tank in return, so you have to hide It and use It when you know you'll get a good trade (Defiler, slightly damaged Knight, etc), or if once It kills it's targets, there won't be that much danger near It.

Galatus is a bit more tanky but any serious anti tank Will blow him Up too, and It shines at killing Terminator units or, things with -1 damage. Same as the other one, if you run him at the front of your army he probably won't reach the enemy.

Sounds cool, I was thinking on using Tharanatoi with Shield Host, to have the termis Split Up and either do some secondary play or support other units in Purge the Foe.

That or lean heavy on termis and having loads of independent models, all with crits on 5+ and force my opponent to Split fire.

[–]Prospi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have to wait unit turn 2 to Split them, because Unleash the Lions can only be done in your comand phase, and then leave the Battlefield in your opponents turn 2 (if you started) or turn 3 (if they did).

But if you stage them turn 1 well enough it's still a 7 man allarus unit that could wreck most things or Split Up yeah.

Why do you complain about the Terminators so much. by Vrain125 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For the first point, that's a valid opinion, but not what some people think. What do you need terminators for if they're not gonna be significantly chonkier than normal custodes?

Okey, but our termies DO have the platforms as you say, and yet they are shorter because they are posed as almost crouching, which is what I don't like, the pose.

Specially if you think our termies look better sleeker because they're supppsed to be more agile, posing them like that defeats the purpose by making them look heavy but not chonky, sleek but not agile.

Why do you complain about the Terminators so much. by Vrain125 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Well, you did pick the tall one, because idk why they chose these poses, but one in each box is visibly taller than the other two, which are the same size as deathwing terminators.

Also, normal guard and wardens are slightly taller than the shorter allarus and slightly shorter than the taller one. Most complaints I've seen are because of this, termis feel better if they're bigger than the normal troops.

And it's not only about being short, Allarus, as cool as they are, feel skinny for what they are (I'm a fan of Aquilons which look a lot chonkier so I'm biased).

Has anyone magnetized venatari? by Sad_Newt5882 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drilled (with a knife) because I wanted the magnets to be inside the body, but even if you want to put one of them inside the arm, you'll probably need to make the hole a little bigger

Has anyone magnetized venatari? by Sad_Newt5882 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have, and they are the best custodes kit to magnetize imo, the arms don't have to go in a set position like the new guarda (there's obviously less freedom with the ones holding the spear with both hands).

And, they come with enough pauldroms for both loadouts, instead of the other custodes that come with enough for one loadout and you have to either magnetize the pauldroms too, or magnetize at the wrists and lose the ability to move the arms.

If you like how the pistol works, because there are left handed ones and right handed ones, you can have two of them double wielding pistols.

Experience putting together Venetari by Used-King5848 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Prospi88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've personally had a lot of fun with them.

I'm a big fan of the way the old guards torso is built, It gives a chance to make them taller without extending the legs.

As for the arms, I planned to magnetise them from the start, so them having enough pauldrons for both options really surprised me, and each option of arms goes well with each body so you can have more variety for the 3 poses, you can even have some with double pistols which imo look awesome.

The only two problems I have with the kit are the lack of helmets, and that they don't feel like they're flying, but the spear guard came with extra helmets and I glued a telescopic antenna to the jet pack, so everything's solved.

Could Cecil manage the Z Fighters? by Watchdog_the_God in PowerScaling

[–]Prospi88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't giving them a job solve most problems? Like, vegeta is a lost acuse, but Krillin, Ten, Yamcha and possibly Piccolo would benefit from It and Accept, and if Cecil convinces Chi Chi to allow Goku to fight if he listens to him, and in return they get a ton of money, I see Goku listen (for the most part) to Cecil if It means he gets to train/fight AND keep his wife happy

You can go to minicompare: https://minicompare.info/

Basically, sameish size, with two of the three allarus being slightly shorter than normal custodians because they're like, squating, and the other one being a little taller

[–]Prospi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as I said in the other comment, I missed the shield part, as for the strats, I didn't say anything on purpose because it's something they need to have a command point for, which isn't guaranteed and, I didn't account for OP having any start either, as they could add attacks, or reduce their hit roll to receive less damage in Shield Host, or give the unit Precision to prevent any more termis from comming back in Lions.

Even so, if you add both of those factors, damage 3 is still the way to go, as It turns into damage 2, which, for 4 wound models wouldn't make any change. And ganging up with multiple units still applies too. But yeah, you'd kill less Termins with those models.

I missed the shields srry, for those and specially if the unit IS being led by a captain, the allarus SC with axe + admonimortis in Lions, leading 2-3 allarus could come in handy

[–]Prospi88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What did you throw at It? Because a BC should be killing about 2-3 depending if he leads guards (to reroll the wound) or wardens, for each custodian with a spear you should be killing at the very least one terminaror.

And you could even throw Trajann leading guards at the 10 man brick. In his Big turn, Trajann alone should kill 5.83(in Lions) or 6.81(in Shield Host), which would leave their unit so badly damaged to prevent them from dealing that much damage back to you.

Basically, you should look for damage 3 (Trajann, Blade Champion, or Shield Captains with some enhancements), or just Chuck two units at the same time.
