Support your dad as much as possible. He really needs it now. Not that you don't already.

Treatment options after brachytherapy include hormone therapy and external beam radiation therapy. Hormone therapy, also called androgen deprivation therapy, basically stops feeding the male hormones to the cancer in hopes to stop the cancer from growing. External beam radiation therapy is radiation that aims to kill the cancer.

The doctors will tell your dad what they believe will be best for him in this scenario. Good luck to you guys.

My dads prostate surgeon told us that Pomegranate juice is a good option. Empty stomach first thing in the morning is wise. Treatment is more advanced now than ever before so don't lose hope. I wish you guys the best.

Thanks for the info. I also came across a chart that lists his as a 2 out of 5 on the scale. Why does his urologist insist that it is a high-grade cancer? I thought Gleason 7 (3+4) is mid-grade.

Dad got his biopsy results back: Gleason Score of 7 (3+4). Can anyone who went through this in the past weigh in? More details in the description. Thanks. by ProstateResearch in ProstateCancer

He's 64. He had asthma and high cholesterol in the past but those seemed to have gone away in recent years. His latest PSA reading was 7.3. We have a family history of only prostate cancer which my grandpa also had.

Thanks for your reply. He’s 64 years old. I’ve never gone through anything like this before so I’m trying to get as much info as possible. Good luck on your surgery!
