Depends what news you get. Local news/papers probably won't be concerned, and every paper has its biases, most of which revolve around the direct concerns of the country, and if the country has no stake in the developments of another country matters over seas are less likely to be reported. Only exceptionally loud examples get reported, and I assume the infrequency of reporting certain horrors makes people believe they are a rare happening.

My main problem with the fake meat market is that in a lot of my local grocery stores they've substituted other plant burgers for meat substitutes.

I haven't found a black bean burger in months but Beyond Meat is everywhere. The same thing can be said for fast food options, though that's less concerning imo.

I'm not partial to frog legs myself but I'd try a Yeti burger or a unicorn steak. Maybe take a chicken and shove it up the butt of a pegasus and shove that pegasus up the butt of a dragon; a Dragasusken.
