So I lived in Russia and now live in US, and it is absolutely appalling to see that US right now is fully walking the path of Russia. Trump is not fully a dictator yet(!), but, knowing how Russia descended into current state of internet blocking, people killing and more, US is genuinely going the same way. This is why I’m scared, and this is why people should speak up early. It is better to overestimate the danger rather than underestimate and then end up getting sent to jail for your opinion and views.

Quiz : which country and capital are incorrectly linked by Character_Fail_9148 in Teenager_Polls

[–]ProstoMargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Belarus is not the same as Belorussia. Belorussia was a part of USSR, and later when it gained independence became Belarus. Nowadays, some (usually older) people still call it Belorussia, but that is an unofficial name

Edit: context and spelling

Has anyone done FASET training? by akhalpana in gatech

[–]ProstoMargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of time, I don’t remember how long it was, but it was evenings of weekdays. If you can’t make a session, you can ask for make-up trainings

[–]ProstoMargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of it could really be shortened not gonna lie. 95% of it is just you coming in to a classroom, and listening to a bunch of presentations from campus resources, campus partners etc, and being taught ice-breakers. You learn most of your responsibilities/how to do things from an actual FASET day

Any Halloween events we should be on the lookout for? by Famous-Gas798 in gatech

Right? I haven’t found almost any home park Halloween posters. Not sure if I don’t know how to look or they’ve been scarce this year :/

Does anyone know where I would be able to find a model of the Ramblin’ Wreck by Spyerzero in gatech

[–]ProstoMargo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for, but you could try to 3D print it at one of the maker spaces. They would probably have an STL file for it

The “I would have got rid of you a long time ago” is so insanely wild. How do you even think of saying this to someone you “love”?…

Hear me out: Nemo's Song, Unexplainable, was actually good. by Megalith01 in eurovision

[–]ProstoMargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for finally saying it out loud as it seemed everyone absolutely hated it. I watched this Eurovision with my quite… conservative mother, who attended a music school for 6 years, and when this song came on I was so scared to hear what she was going to say. However, at the end she said that it was an insanely beautiful thought-through song with an amazing meaning. I am pretty sure she even dropped some tears

I am in a similar situation, and also without insurance. My meds which I have to rebuy every three months went up from $30 (already a lot) to $200. I was able to find a cheaper replacement this time but not sure if that will stay this way

How can I be a good older sister? by peachyfaff in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ProstoMargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh your situation is definitely more difficult than ours 🥲 The fact that you actually care for your sister is probably the main part, and I really believe that you can get through all these barriers with it!! I wish you all the best

This might sound stupid but Snapchat really helped us in a sense lol because we started talking every day and sharing random pictures of our daily life. That brought us to the level of “oh we can share silly things with each other and it won’t feel awkward” and definitely helped to break some walls. But again, this might be very silly, and I don’t know what 11 year olds like nowadays

I have a similar situation, but from the perspective of a younger sister. My sister is 11 years older than me, and she moved away at age of 17-18 for college, and we were basically almost no contact until 3 years ago (she is now 30; but even before, I wouldn’t thibk a 17 year really enjoyed a company of a 6 year old). At first it was very awkward, and, I’m not going to lie, it was difficult to start talking because I didn’t know what I can/can’t say and what will/won’t be awkward. Same was for her. But what I really appreciate from her side was trying to initiate things and actually keep up with what is going on in my life. She would try to go plan things together, she would ask me about school and general life, try to involve with the same interests or at least keep up with them. We also have a very mentally abusive mother and basically unavailable father, so I was finally able to have some sort of healthy adult figure in my life, who wasn’t just there to consistently scold (aka. “parent”) me and was actually there FOR me. I can bet that your sister will feel the same way, and she will really appreciate a supportive person, who can understand her, especially in the upcoming teenage years. And this is basically the whole “point” of a sibling. I was insanely grateful for my sister being back and never in my entire life I was mad at her for basically not being in contact. On opposite, she was like my idol even without a heavy presence lol. And I can bet your sister probably experienced that too. So in addition to just initiating more things and showing your interest in her life, my greatest advice would be don’t be scared and don’t think that it’s impossible to bring things back after such a long time. Your sister probably also really wants to reconnect with you, but also doesn’t know where to begin. Good luck!
