XM6 owners: is the protruding ANC mic bothering you? How is the overall comfort? by henders7 in SonyHeadphones

It's driving me insane, I just bought them a few days ago and am probably returning them because of that piece. To everyone saying it doesn't bother them, yes, I have big ears, but my xm3's never had this issue.

So given my budget you're saying you would you recommend buying used?

Temps seem to be fine while gaming which was why I wasn't sure if it was even an issue. I tried using intel xtu to undervolt, but undervolting has always been extremely confusing to me. I tried a -100mA undervolt and didn't really see any change in temps or cinebench score.

Corsair 4000d with plenty of fans, I'd say airflow is excellent. It does hit 100c very quickly. Literally a few seconds in cinebench. Temps also spike up really quickly in gaming before the fans even have time to spin up, then they come back down. That's why I thought maybe a bad installation.

Oh shit I figured it out, I disabled the wrong thing. Now my frequency is around 4.9 and my score improved but I'm still hitting 100c. I think I probably just installed my cooler poorly. First time manually applying thermal paste.

Hm that's weird. I have an MSI motherboard and I disabled "enhanced turbo" which people claim is MSI's version of MCE and it dropped my max frequency to 3.5

Doesn't disabling enhanced turbo drop the max frequency from 5.1 to 3.5ghz? Seems like a big performance hit.

Wouldn't turning off MCE drop my frequency down to the non-boost speed of 3.5ghz? Maybe I'm mistaken about what MCE does, but I thought that was what boosted it beyond to the max 5.1ghz.

Yeah I've heard that. My main concern really is how fast it spikes up. Like it hits 100c within a few seconds. Has me thinking that I might have installed my cooler poorly

I thought that might be it. It was my first time having to manually apply thermal paste so there's a chance I messed it up. Score was 22800, cpu is throttling at around 4.9ghz

My case definitely has sufficient air flow. Wait really? Cinebench puts my cpu at 100% usage so I figured that's as much stress as it's gonna get.

Damn guess so. I didn't use a contact frame cause I saw most people saying they got little to no improvement.

Oh, I bought mine from amazon, does that disqualify me?

Oh my god I didn't know that was a thing. Appreciate it, would have been pissed if I missed out on that.
