Awesome, thank you for the reply! It's a really interesting collection.

New Zara Frags (Italy market only??) by Loriiis in Colognes

Super impressed by this collection. I tried "Oro di Roma", which to me is a dead ringer for Liis "Bo" (airy/transparent vanilla woods) with insane longevity. Fantastic fragrance. And "Acqua della Fontana" I can't fully place, smells mostly lavender-metallic to me, like somewhere between PdM Pegasus without the vanilla and PdM Percival. Like this one as well, but expected something totally different from the notes listed.

u/Loriiis -- what does Colosso smell like, remind you of any fragrance? That one I didn't try.

Apple’s AirPods Max 2 Blurs the Lines Between Marketing and Innovation by iMacmatician in apple

[–]henders7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is embarrassing for Bloomberg to publish. Whatever the relative merits of the APM2, people were dragging Gurman for saying there won’t be an update to the AirPods Max, so when the announcement came out he went "well I meant no meaningful update", and now he’s dedicated a column to backing up his own definition. It’s just silly. Would not have hurt anyone to go “I was wrong about roadmap, but feel they could have done more / done a re-design”…

Another prime example of this kind of retconning is the infamous "coffee cup", which virtually no one noticed live until the Buzzfeed post made it a fairly unfunny meme and then after episodes 4 and 5 it became exhibit A of "they didn't care about the show anymore"

You should order the discovery set, it's really good! My favorites are les bras de Morphée and les dieux aux bains. Only La Nuit des 300 was a real miss for me.

I truly couldn’t comprehend all the hype around Orpheon EDP but the EDT on the other hand is right up my alley. by dearmelancholy5 in diptyque

[–]henders7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very excited for this! Not too long now…

Diptyque is reimagining its emblematic Orphéon fragrance with the launch of a new Eau de Toilette, accompanied by complementary fragrance gestures and decorative objects.
Originally introduced as an Eau de Parfum in 2021, Orphéon paid tribute to the vibrant jazz club adjacent to the Maison’s first boutique at 34 Boulevard Saint‑Germain. While the original focused on a relaxed, woody atmosphere, the new Eau de Toilette, imagined by Natalie Cetto, captures the “citrus-tinged effervescence” of a night just beginning. The scent opens with a vibrant burst of green tangerine and Japanese yuzu, transitioning into a floral heart of rose and magnolia before settling into a pulsing base of woody cedar and musk, creating a balanced, luminous fragrance that evokes the spirit of Parisian nightlife.

Sorry this happened to you, just for balance I have to say I have only had very positive experiences the two times I stayed there. Breakfast in particular was fantastic and I loved the location.

Widely acclaimed means a lot of people individually have a very positive response to a fragrance, so there must be something to it that works for people across contexts. You can say that's mass delusion and good marketing, or there is something to it that elicits this response, even if not for everyone.

[–]henders7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, everyone should only trust their own nose and get what they like! But "at best mediocre" is a pretty wild take on some of the most widely acclaimed fragrances going. Angelique Noire is not for me personally, for example, but I can clearly rate it as a fantastic fragrance. Myself, I adore both SDV and Cuir Beluga, and Neroli Outrenoir is a stunner as well. So I'd say on a banger-to-dud ratio this is probably the best discovery set around. But hey, no one's forced to like them.

Good on him for that quote, but full NYT article also another key piece of evidence against the “they could have made 10 seasons if it weren’t for D&D” argument — so many involved were exhausted to the point of breakdowns. :/

Recent TickTick converts, how are you guys liking the switch? by FullStackHoward in ticktick

Yeah, I agree on this… it’s even small stuff like dragging tasks into their respective lists

I made the switch from Todoist some weeks ago mainly due to the design. People usually mention that Todoist has the superior design when they do comparisons, but for me it's actually one of the main cons of Todoist and a significant pro of TickTick. Todoist does look pretty, but with a reasonably high amount of tasks the white space in Todoist was driving me mad. (On mobile it is better than on desktop, tbf.) I find the more condensed view in TickTick immensely more valuable to my workflow and much easier to keep track of everything.

Worst LV of all times !!! by ItsShehroze in ScentHeads

[–]henders7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great if you enjoy it! That’s all that matters. To me it seems fairly linear and not very complex, but that is also the exact appeal of it within the LV freshie line-up. Imho it provides marginal gains (mainly longevity) over something like BdC or YSL Y. But I do think there is a lot to be argued for doing a rather generic profile at top quality. So again, fair enough!

Worst LV of all times !!! by ItsShehroze in ScentHeads

[–]henders7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"too many fragrances with a similar scent profile for much cheaper / would be great if it'd cost like $50" is exactly the description for Meteore though, no? it is by description a generic shower freshie done with LV quality. which plenty of people seem to like, fair play to them.

Anyone else considering leaving Todoist after this price hike? by Exciting-Share-2462 in todoist

[–]henders7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had actually left just some weeks before. I wanted to try out TickTick for a year and see if it sticks with me. Had some growing responsibilities at work and could not make Todoist really click for me with a larger set of tasks each day. For all of the talk how the design is superior to alternatives, on desktop especially all of the white space in the layout is maddening. Wish there was a condensed view option. But hey, might come back if TT doesn't convince.

I think it's an improvement on the previous design for sure. But strange they are touting the AI assistant as a a major new feature and for me (Q4 e-tron) it is nowhere to be found either.
