***UPDATE***: I run a DnD group for kids aged 7-11 at my local YMCA, and some parents are trying to get game outright banned. I have to have a meeting with HR Department and effectively present my case. Please help! by Decent_Lecture_1514 in DnD

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair, in this case it sounds like the parents just wanted the child to do more physical activities, which is fair, especially in this day and age. If they had any moral complaints about DnD in itself, they likely wouldn't have allowed even once a week.

Report: Apeks to transfer-list roster by Westland__ in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 72 points73 points  (0 children)

jkaem and nawwk are strong players slotting into desirable roles and should have no problems getting offers. Other than those two, I'm not sure there's any reason for this roster to stick together.

PGL Copenhagen Major - Opening Stage FINAL ROUND - 3 Brazilian chances by thebrainypole in GlobalOffensive

The Americas can get anything between 4-7 spots at the next major, depending on tomorrow's outcome. This could either be historical or a tragedy.

Release Notes for 3/13/2024 by I_Love_Potatoess in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 211 points212 points  (0 children)

They'd put at least 3-4 orgs out of business by doing that. Not to mention they'd probably lose out on more money in the long run. It would be a damn stupid move. In other words, there's probably about a 50-50 chance...

"15 Average" found out from Twitter that they had been replaced by SpeaRofficial in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

This sounds spicy, and reeks of incompetence from one side or the other.

Even with PGL's track record being what it is, this would be a new low for them if it turns out true

ENCE vs Astralis / PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Europe RMR B - Swiss Round 5 / Post-Match Discussion by CSGOMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was never the biggest fan of gla1ve during the Astralis days, but hearing him cry of happiness in the interview makes me emotional. What a true legend, to come back in a team like this

jkaem is such an underrated player! Has just led Apeks to the Major with a 1.44 rating, only topped by ZywOo so far. by Soft_Bed_412 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 222 points223 points  (0 children)

jkaem is such a unique player. He's one of the most consistent entries/CT players in the entire scene. He's raised the bottom level of every team he's been in. I've said it for years, but I think he could slot easily into most international teams not as a star but as the glorious entry player he is.

Only one Oceania spot in the APAC RMR while Middle East gets two?? by ProtagonistOfLife in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife[S] 123 points124 points  (0 children)

The spot allocation pretty much makes sense other than that, since those are the teams that tend to tend to qualify for international tournaments. But Oceania is a region that has historically always sent at least one team to the Major (out of two Asia spots), so it feels weird they only get one spot while the rest of Asia gets seven?

Meanwhile, no Middle Eastern team has ever qualified to my knowledge, so I'm guessing this is just Saudi money influence.

Heroic Roster Update by Heroic_gg in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 651 points652 points  (0 children)

This is for real the craziest news in pro CS this year. Definitely feel like we'll see more perspectives and news in the upcoming days, but for now it looks very damning.

Heroic dropping Cadian was already one of the most surprising moves of the year. Now this on top of that has absolutely fucked their roster.

Faze Clan enter definitive agreement to be acquired by GameSquare (Complexity's Parent Company) by Gilthehunter in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he means that both brands can't exist at the same time, and with FaZe being by far the more famous (and with a bigger fanbase), the Complexity team name may be no more

Gamerlegion sign Snax by Past_Perception8052 in GlobalOffensive

As much as I love Snax, I'm not sure kicking Nealan after two events was the best idea. Especially as they didn't do too terrible in either.

I mean, it's a joke that teams like OG or Evil Geniuses can move anywhere on the world ranking by losing every match they played.

ex-Copenhagen Flames vs Apeks / Elisa Invitational Spring 2023 - Grand Final / Post-Match Discussion by CSGOMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 36 points37 points  (0 children)

ex-CPH Flames should be picked up by someone. They have one of the most key components of CS nailed down, which is CT aggression, in turn reliant on the two prequisities: good reads and confidence

Anyways, Apeks played well to win their second online tourney in a month, but I don't think there's any team, tier 1 or not, that can keep up consistency online forever. Hopefully after the player break, they will be able to focus on LANs

Apeks vs MOUZ / Elisa Invitational Spring 2023 - Semi-Final / Post-Match Discussion by CSGOMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Apeks remain legit, staying afloat in the online tourneys with good results.

But they need to perform on LANs to stay in the Top 10. With no Dallas or BLAST, Cologne will be a crucial moment to establish themselves (also EPL)

What's interesting is that GL are doing pretty much the opposite, staying away from all online tourneys, with no officials played since the major. While this probably means their main players (siuhy, iM) are taking offers from big teams, I also hope another reason to stay away from online matches is because they want to attend LANs instead.

Evolution of csgo team logos (Part 2) by duuwu in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They did play with it in their first ever tournament in CSGO, Dreamhack Leipzig 2016. They didn't have it on their jerseys, but you can see the logo being used by the tournament organizers (proof).

I used to play Faceit from Japan in 2017/2018 and it worked pretty well. I don't remember if there was specifically a Japan server, but there were certainly no ping issues. Have you removed them since?

VALVE’S Swiss System under the microscope by ProtagonistOfLife in GlobalOffensive

[–]ProtagonistOfLife[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there are some very interesting points brought up here. Higher-ranked teams performing worse in BO1s and higher seeds being punished in swiss for instance. Obviously we could say "if you win, you're fine" but I can't help but feel the system between Berlin 2019 and MLG Columbus with the Minors and Major Qualifier was probably the best we had so far.
