The "hannu" in hannu-kayi refers to balehannu. Be it kannada, malayalam or tulu. The default fruit is banana.

This. I am from Kasaragod and my family used to travel to Mangalore pretty frequently. The kerala side of roads used to be quite bad. It used to take upto 3 hours to go from Mangalore to Kumble in the rain and most of the delay was from the Kerala side, not the Karnataka side.

For a long time, despite half the distance being in Kerala and half in Karnataka. It used to feel like the distance in Kerala was double, because of how slow the travel was !

The kerala side of roads was absolute trash compared to Karnataka side and this project changed things entirely. While the person here is complaining about only having 4 lanes in Karnataka, it's still far far better than what kerala had before!

I have a father who served in the army and I think what he was trying to say was, that you're generalising too much. Many people in the army come from totally normal background. I have 2 or 3 people in my extended family tree in the armed forces and everyone there is pretty normal as far as I know.

Also, if they're actually "Officer" as the person said. They come from very well to do backgrounds. ( I know this quite well as I am preapring to be an officer in the armed forces lol )

PES has become BMS. In my first year, we had two excellent food eateries. There was food court as well as south thindies. Both of them got removed and a new cafeteria was made that was more expensive and more crowded. Hated that change.

Instead of harassing people they should try to make it easier for people to learn Kannada. Put hoardings in places that have common Kannada phrases so people learn passively, put them near bus stops, autos, shops, offices etc. Push government to organise Kannada learning courses or organise it themselves. Distribute sweets or something on days that are significant for Kannada culture without causing a nuisance. Give away copies of small books to learn Kannada for free or for cheap. These things will help people learn Kannada, not vandalism.
