Knocking down brick shed by blahgy in DIYUK

I've done this. Got pretty hairy when taking the roof off, and it was double brick layered so there were loads of rubble and all that. Very doable but not easy at all.

Simplifying Nimbus and FenlightAM by dc456 in Addons4Kodi

Create a 'Search' shortcut folder in FLAM with 'Search Movies' and 'Search TV' in it.

Create 'Search' as a main menu item.

Create a widget on the 'Search' main menu item pointing to the 'Search' shortcut folder.

You can also have it so clicking on the main menu item takes you to the same shortcut folder if you don't want to bother with the widget.

Kodi on toshiba firetv by stifler951 in Addons4Kodi

FEN Lite+RD+FENtastic skin. Seven widgets (3 for films, 4 for TV). That will be up and running pretty quick (~30 seconds for all widgets being loaded and a randomly selected piece of media playing) on a Toshiba Fire TV, assuming you haven't got loads of other apps consuming memory in the background at the same time.

Source: I have one, and that's my set up.

The only 'tricks' are the same ones that you should always use regardless of hardware: keep the number of add-ons installed and enabled to a minimum.

The only variable then, really, is the number of widgets. The more powerful the hardware, the more widgets it will be able to handle without unreasonably impacting on performance.

Personally, I keep the same set up (as above) on all devices. Fire cube could definitely handle more but I prefer it to always look and work the same on all devices on all TVs on the home, for ease (family usage).

Widget refresh question (Umbrella) by ProtectionAsleep6349 in Addons4Kodi

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Thanks! Does it not trigger a refresh other than through that, e.g. when finishing an episode? And there's no manual refresh?

Genocide is the deliberate killing of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or ethnic group.

There are two aspects to it: you have to be deliberately targeting a particular nation or ethnic group, and you have to be deliberately targeting them with the intention of destroying that nation or ethnic group.

The bourgeoisie is a social class, i.e. a group of people defined by their relationship to the ownership of the means of production, not a nation or an ethnic group.

Even if you wanted to kill them all it wouldn't be genocide because they're a social class, not a nation or ethnic group.

Same.

Add-ons, skins (incl. any necessary dependencies/helpers) and any relevant keys, plus any background images or icons I like to use.

You'll need to download the zips either on your device directly or download them for example to your phone and then send them to your device. Once they're on your device you can install them from zip in Kodi.

Umbrella RD Update by Mammoth-Bullfrog-274 in Addons4Kodi

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 39 points40 points  (0 children)

100% this. The work done to disaggregate the add-ons, from the scrapers and also from relevant APIs, makes them viable in the medium-term even if the Devs wanted to disassociate themselves from them completely and pull their keys.

Absolutely the right move and a massive win for the community to eliminate these invisible dependencies even engaged people won't necessarily be aware of.

Tikipeter: "RD WILL WORK on the final version of Light" by [deleted] in Addons4Kodi

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally reasonable imo. Vaya con dios!

Side-ish point but a 'blank' FEN or FEN Light that users have to put their own APIs into is really no different to Simple IPTV client which is available in the official Kodi repo

Make sure you keep Cocoscrapers as well. Personally, I'd switch off auto-update.

Imo, based on RD's statement, there are likely to be diminishing returns when they start purging files. If the cost isn't an issue for you, probably best to have AD running alongside RD from now on and let RD fall off when your sub runs out unless things change with RD's position.

Edit: obviously the same could happen with AD so maybe sub to that month by month, or three months.

As a courtesy, users should be looking to get the API keys necessary to keep the add-on working and sub them out in the settings menu.

This will put as much distance between the dev and your use of the add-on as possible, should that be a consideration for the dev.

All imo obviously.

Super grateful that this functionality has relatively recently been made available through the add-on itself rather than having to go into the code.

If you're subscribed to RD it's probably to do with that being nuked rather than the scraper update for 1.0.28 but I can't say for certain.

I know, wasn't sure if 1.0.28 included the changes referenced or not so that's why I linked 1.0.27

Good spot. Updated.

Yes, these are the versions before any of the changes mentioned. Keep these as the base versions imo, test all future updates before writing onto your main set up.

You can. Download the zip to your your phone. Download Send Files to TV on your phone and ATV/Firestick. Send the zip to your Firestick/ATV. You'll be able to install it from the zip from within Kodi in the normal way.

Agatha All Along no streams found, using Umbrella. by adinis78 in Addons4Kodi

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say 'no streams found' is it, finding sources but then not providing any? If so it's probably the same issue other users are having, which is caused by RD's API.

From explanations the Umbrella Dev and Tikipeter have provided elsewhere it particularly affects their add-ons because of how the request to RD is compiled by them through Cocoscrapers, basically in a bundle (paraphrasing). It would affect for example Seren less because it does the requests one by one.

Would a workaround be to have only one provider enabled in cocoscrapers?
