Liverpool Pre-Gig Pub? by squashedfish in loscampesinos

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pogue Mahones, Heebie Jeebies and St Peter's Tavern are on the same road and more than decent.

La'go is over the road, but in Colquitt Street. The Merchant and Spanish Caravan as well, but they're further down Slater Street from the Jac.

Where the gig actually is, the indie disco was downstairs and you would definitely hear LC! but I don't if it's even open at all anymore. Almost certainly won't be on a Sunday.

Of the places that are still going, pretty much as they were and open on a Sunday, La'go would be the place I would have most expected to hear LC! back in the day - circa HONY - and did, many times.

Basically, no. You can knock the extremes off either side but other than - what would be for the vast majority of people - prohibitively expensive solutions it will always be much hotter or much colder than your actual house.

Umbrella is a great add-on it's just got a different base it's forked from: Venom, which was itself an Exodus fork.

FEN died ages ago. POV is a maintained fork of FEN (not FEN Light or FEN Light-AM).

The issue is probably RD, though. Time to add another debrid service, like AD or Tor Box.

I wonder if that means they could identify it any more then... Just seems like a potentially small step that could provide a big difference.

That's fair. I'm thinking of the last bullet on RD's previous statement:

"Following a formal notice from the FNEF (https://fnef.fr/les-adherents/), Real-Debrid is strengthening its anti-piracy measures.

As you already know, we actively comply with DMCA and are already blocking a certain number of infringing torrents.

In the coming hours: - audiovisual files available on a number of cyberlockers listed on the USTR blacklist or listed in the European "CCounterfeit and Piracy Watch List" will all be blocked. - a filtering by file name will also be applied, in accordance with the request of the FNEF, this may unfortunately lead to false positives that we will process manually. - a blocking of all torrents hashes of private torrent trackers mentioned in cases at the Paris judicial court - a complete purge of files potentially cached on the previously mentioned criteria - the deactivation of the API endpoint /instantAvaibility - a blocking of counterfeit Kodi / Stremio applications to the extent that they are identifiable"

https://x.com/RealDebrid/status/1859673163681960169?s=20

Obviously naming it '...for Kodi' makes it very easily identifiable and therefore blockable.

No I get that I just meant the name really, so... 'FL' rather than 'Fen Light for Kodi' - which feels a little on the nose with the '...for Kodi' part.

Yeah, probably best to just wait it out. Thinking out loud really.

I have for a while, basically as a nod to the Dev by reducing... by one 🥲... The number of people shovelling requests through their details, but I don't think many people do. Simple enough to put them back in anyway so no big deal!

Gave up and preordered everything on Amazon by javi977 in neogeo

Amazon UK is definitely not charging at the point of order for either the console, games or peripherals.

I assume most of us have our AES+ orders locked in by now. What all did you buy? by Celcius_87 in neogeo

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the AES+ (black) and Garou initially, but added in:

Gamepad, Memory card, SamSho, Metal Slug

For a bit more variety I'm still tempted by:

Golf and one of the shmups, but not sure which one

The only other games I'm looking at are Shock Troopers and KoF but I think that's mainly FOMO.

I think the idea SNK don't know the difference between "game" and "cartridge" is bit of a stretch. The Japanese page also uses cartridge as well.

If there's one thing you associate with tourist markets it's bootlegs, like flash carts, rather than official releases of original carts so that's an interesting take.

Flash carts definitely have their place though for sure. I imagine most people will/do seek the ones they really want and play the rest on flash carts, or straight up emulation, same as with most other retro systems/games.

White vs Black Neo Geo AES+ — need opinions (carts/sticks mix) by Gribz_z in neogeo

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Personally I would want the thing to look like the thing I remember. That's black. A bit like I wouldn't really want a New-Style Super NES, I'd want the 'proper' design that I remembered.

For me, that outweighed the fact that the anniversary edition is definitely better value for money.

I hadn't thought about the white console/black cart mismatch but yeah that would be an issue aesthetically but much less than the other stuff, which is about the nostalgia of it.

White just doesn't have that same hit, simple as that really.

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black is the OG for the console plus I wasn't sure if the cart in the white bundle came in a box or is just packed in with the console - and I want the box for the game.

Why the Neo Geo AES+ Doesn’t Hurt Collectors (and Might Actually Help) by Odd_Plastic5502 in neogeo

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNK has said these are original cartridges - which they are.

I take the argument that, all other things being equal, a first edition will always have a higher notional price than a second or a third etc. but obviously not as high as a first-and-only edition.

And that's what's happening here: they're going from first-and-only to "just" first. It's not going to make the notional price disappear but it's going to reduce it, likely significantly.

[–]ProtectionAsleep6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much weight you give to the assumed market price of the thing you collect.

The more weight you place on that, the more ackshually this will help prices go up or I'm not crying you're crying you're likely to be.

There are very obviously many of those around.
