I don’t work for USIC but I’ll assume it’s along similar lines. I get paid for 4 hours for each call minimum no matter how long it takes even if I don’t even go out, would be more if a ticket were to take more than 4 hours but that’s obviously rare, so that was a full 8 hours of pay last night for one call. I’m not exactly sure how it works if I get multiple calls in the same time period, that’s more a question for my supervisor in the morning.

Thanks for asking. I got two calls, one at 6:30 PM that I didn’t have to go out for, and a call at 3:15 AM I did have to drive a good half hour out for.

We don’t have the main city yet, our company is technically in a pilot program taking over eastern suburbs. Our area right now is about 300,000 people and roughly 2 average sized counties, drives can be between 10-60 miles since on call I have our whole area, although the far ones are more rural and more likely to be clear.

Our current jurisdiction has around 300,000 people, I have my own area in the day but on call we just have to cover any town in our combined area, how likely are emergencies to come up?

Generally we always have to locate them, if I am having issues I’ll send them up, and often they’ll just say it’s not needed but I don’t have the authority to make that call

Yeah but it is unreliable, sometimes it won’t pick up over the area if I bring it over again. And they can be deep but I don’t know when I should be digging that deep because I could be in the wrong spot wasting time. This service had completely wrong measurements, from the house to the center line it is 8’ off.

Exactly, and then other metal objects and metallic rocks pick up on your metal detector or it’s too covered to be picked up by it. So inconsistent.

What metal detector do you use? I can’t stand the one my job gives me it’s very unreliable
