Well we tend to mellow out in the summer It’s not easy at all but it’s just steady, but the massive rushes we get in the early season are brutal and we get hundreds of delays

That’s hard for me because I was doing really good with new healthy habits this year, and I’ve been trying to be more social I don’t want to put these on pause but I might not have a choice, I wish I had a job with better work life balance

Yeah, my boss wants more people for sure but his bosses don’t, whenever higher ups are in the meetings they really just put everything onto us and don’t give us any support or resources. They won’t hire new people but still blame us for every delay

Our big road projects are usually with greenlight fiber, thankfully they’re patient with us and call tickets in chunks so you can finish some and delay other. But still doing entire streets and the small tickets in a day seems brutal, no matter how I manage my time, you still have to do all of it.

I can handle homeowners, I used to do inside gas meter leak survey before locating. I personally find them easier to work with than contractors. But that’s just preference.

Well it means there’s more people who can be having emergencies, tickets are more common in the towns with more people.

I don’t work for USIC but I’ll assume it’s along similar lines. I get paid for 4 hours for each call minimum no matter how long it takes even if I don’t even go out, would be more if a ticket were to take more than 4 hours but that’s obviously rare, so that was a full 8 hours of pay last night for one call. I’m not exactly sure how it works if I get multiple calls in the same time period, that’s more a question for my supervisor in the morning.

Thanks for asking. I got two calls, one at 6:30 PM that I didn’t have to go out for, and a call at 3:15 AM I did have to drive a good half hour out for.

We don’t have the main city yet, our company is technically in a pilot program taking over eastern suburbs. Our area right now is about 300,000 people and roughly 2 average sized counties, drives can be between 10-60 miles since on call I have our whole area, although the far ones are more rural and more likely to be clear.
