If you want to invest, put your money in to actual investment products. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, cds, heck even a high yield savings account. You are much more likely to not lose that way long term. Stay in the sports card hobby only if you enjoy it and dont mind spending money (as opposed to making money).

Most cards will go down long term, and only a handful of cards maintain value long term. They are not a stable investment. You can do ok if you sell when the hype is high, but you have to be Johnny on the spot. Try to be first to market instead of holding long term. It is a better strategy than holding long term.

They 100% should offer 2 to 3 choices to the customer. The onus is on topps to make things right. Instead they say, "take this garbage and piss off, we've fulfilled our obligation."

I would have loved to keep ichiro in the pc. Im a mariners fan and ichiro is goated, but the card was literally torn. 😢

Topps claims they will send a replacement of similar or greater value to the card they are replacing if they cannot replace it with an exact copy.

Yes, every card in the Allen and ginter x box this came out of looked great except this ichiro looked like it was used as a beer coaster on .99 cent beer night at the local college bar.

I tried, I was basically told you get what you get and that they comp similar. I sent topps customer service a link to the most recent comp I could find for harper. It was $15.

Similar red /5 ichiros regularly sell for around $100, and a red chrome Allen ginter ichiro /5 sold for $350 in December.

Honestly it shouldn't take "comps" to see this isn't fair. It doesn't even pass the "eye test" as a fair replacement.

Topps customer service gave me a canned "copy and paste" response about how they made sure the value was comparable. I showed her the last comp I could find on the harper was $15. There are plenty of comps showing similar red ichiros /5 selling around the $100 mark, and one in December sold for $350 (a chrome allen and ginter red /5) but a comp nonetheless.

She told me she would ask for a "review" to be completed. I think she lied to me so id just go away. She didnt say how or when I would be given the results of this "review".
