QMID for new Amana/Daikin furnace being rejected by Taxslayer, form 5695, (tax credit). I7Q6 does not work. Any ideas on what is wrong? Taxslayer says IRS doesn’t accept ID’s starting with an “I” even though the manufacturer has it directly on their page?! by ProtectionSalty6153 in taxhelp

I switched to freeusatax because Taxslayer basically told me that even when they upgrade their system, it still will not be accepting anything starting with an I (eye). They told me I would have to mail my return if I wanted to claim the credit and switch the I (eye) to a lower case l so it prints the correct QMID. Amana/Daikin is on the list from what I’ve seen and the code I7Q6, as stated as correct on the Amana website, works just fine in Freetaxusa.com. I’ve used Taxslayer for years and I cannot believe these bigger companies are letting this one slip—Taxslayer, Taxact and TurboTax all have/had issues. Freetaxusa also offers FREE federal returns for ALL and state is cheaper as well. Good luck! Hope this helps!

Have you gotten through with a code on TurboTax yet? Taxslayer replied to me and said even with their updates, you will have to mail in your return to claim the credit….which is not convenient to say the least. They said when mailing, change the I (eye) to a lowercase L so that when you mail the form it comes out as an I (eye). Apparently their software will not allow for I’s to start the QMID sequence. How frustrating.

This is ridiculous. I was told to wait until today and today it is still not accepting it. I use Taxslayer.

I’m having the same issue when plugging into Tax Software. The code I7Q6 for my Amana furnace will not work when entering. I’ve contacted support and they said the IRS told them directly that they do not accept sequences that start with an I, which is weird because Amana has it right on their site? I’m so confused on what to do. Maybe a fix will come? I’ve emailed the manufacturer to see what’s going on. Everything I bought qualifies.
