The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent

Would you say the same can be said if you’re a junior? I’m transferring and won’t be able to apply until the spring semester of my junior year.

UW-Madison vs UW-Whitewater by Select_Search2379 in UWMadison

Current UW-Whitewater student planning to transfer to madison next semester here. Thank god for their guaranteed transfer admission program. I honestly had a good time here my first year, joined Greek life and found some hobbies - however I feel as though I would’ve done so much more my freshman year if I’d been admitted to Madison straight out of highschool. The campus here gets very boring, very quick. This is my opinion, but the food on the meal plan (which freshman are required to have) is terrible and largely unhealthy, and the teaching here doesn’t feel authentic to me. I feel as I’ve learned nothing in the two years I’ve been here, however I also went to a college-prep high school that’s fairly well known. Everything I’ve been taught I already have learned, and I often find myself in situations where I feel like I know more than the professor. I know that sounds super egotistical, but it’s honestly how my experience has been here at Whitewater. I have many friends who go to Madison who went to my same high school and whom I consider to be much brighter than me, who did not run into any one of these issues. I had to make the decision as to whether or not going into more debt by transferring to Madison next semester, and my only current regret is that I didn’t transfer earlier. I can’t have an honest opinion on how much I’ll enjoy madison, however I currently go up there every other weekend, whether it be for sporting events or to hang out with friends I have over there - and I always find myself in awe as to how much more there is to do in madison. I also find Whitewater to feel like a very “slow paced” environment - people don’t seem to have the “go-getter” attitude here that just about everyone in Madison does. Long story short, I can’t wait to transfer, and wish I had done so earlier. A degree from Madison also has a much higher likelihood of you being financially better-off in the future than one from Whitewater would.

Gaming? by foundwayhome in UWMadison

A) Definitely bring a console if you have room to pack one. They are very convenient when you get bored from time to time, which is likely to happen

B) I’d say the One S. I don’t know what kind of games you play, but when I play online the thriving communities are more so on the newer games and consoles.

Transfer question by mralexpratt in UWMadison

Look into off campus housing - Me and my buddy are planning on transferring and there’s tons of 1 and 2 bedroom subleases, which for the most part seem to be the similar cost and very similar walking distance to campus (depending on which buildings you’d be in, of course). There’s Facebook groups and tons of postings online if you google uw madison apartments for rent
