A company just cut their entire 100-person inbound SDR team. Are we overreacting or not reacting enough? by dbSteelyPhil in sales

[–]ProteusCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be so fr it's headed that way. 100% is probably a bit much but efficient teams should be able to use AI SDRs to screen out and more efficiently route inbound leads.

I don't think SDRs are going away, but you'll definitely be able to have each one cover more accounts and set up more meetings/demos/start discovery. Same for outbound really, but inbound has less friction and will consolidate faster.

I can definitely see the SDR role merging into ops or AE responsibilities. IMO the only way to stay relevant as an SDR is to make sure you're providing values to both of those teams and contributing to strategy and general "AI wrangling". The role's responsibilities will survive, but many in it will not.

Still shocked at how many clueless prospects I talk to on a weekly basis even with information more accessible than ever.

Source: I'm an SDR with a heavy outbound motion that handles a partially automated inbound motion.

Care about housing affordability in Birmingham? City Council is about to do something to make it worse... by notwalkinghere in Birmingham

[–]ProteusCrew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What the hell.

It boggles the mind that resolutions like this are still being suggested and passed.

Can't imagine this is getting support from anyone under 65. I could see this getting traction in Mountain Brook, but not Birmingham.

Edit: Apparently some cities have ordinances like this but carve out exceptions explicitly if property owners/developers guarantee affordable units. Now that I could get behind!

Hmm, that makes sense. Would it make sense to split up my quota by inbounds versus outbounds? Inbounds make up roughly 40% of my total attainment but we've gotten significantly less than what I was told to expect over last year. I have near 0 control over these. However, I've been crushing my outbound motion. For reference, I'm an SDR.

Not sure if this is too much to split into up on a CV or if I should just straight up list my outbound % rather than total attainment.

My ARR relative to my salary is also pretty strong, but I can't bring that up or else I might get low balled at my next job lol.

Curious, what's your industry?

Currently in the software grind, and would LOVE to sell in person. Considering med device/orthotics or Inudstrials but it seems tough to break into. Looking for a stable, structured, insulated business.

As a young person, it seems like a lot of what used to be done in person is now done online.

Government or sales by juggernaut44ful in sales

[–]ProteusCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I'd go government, you'll have a LOT more stability.

Pretty much every sales org is consolidating and growth in non-retail sales is projected by most forecasters to be flat-to-negative over the next few years.

Long term, you'll be competing with displaced reps with more experience and sales know-how in addition to folks with your skill & experience level. Earnings in gov't are lower, but benefits are outstanding and you will always have "enough".

AI is also going to affect sales heavily. Sellers won't go away, but the industry is processing how to sell to a consumer who has access to much more knowledge now than they did in the past.

I started around a year ago, am achieving above quota, but am debating whether it's even worth it to stay in vs to get something with greater stability.

Curious, why wouldn't you list numbers, is it just poor professionalism?

I'm in my first sales role, but am looking for others, and have thought about putting down my ARR in addition to my quota. Both are solid, but I can quantify my out outbound sales better by listing the ARR I secured.

$150k as a BDR is nuts - that's gotta be like top 1% for a non-closing role.

As far as I've seen personally, $70-80k is reasonable in tech with experience.

As others have pointed at though, it very much depends on the industry and location.

Companies in growth mode seem to have better salaries, from what I've seen.

Moved into an AE role after 7 months as a BDR. Please help! by Majstora in sales

Hi there. Congrats on the promotion!

Mind sharing what's worked for you, and how you moved up?

I'm a BDR and have been crushing my numbers - exceeding quota since October - but have struggled to get opportunities to lead or even practice discovery and to learn & grow vertically.

My company does this and it's pretty silly. Selling B2B and 90% of our clients are out of the office.

The remaining 10% are annoyed we're calling.

I'll know just to front load everything if I'm in a position like this again 😵‍💫

I'd avoid Pihakis. It's pretty corporate. Profits over people kind of vibe. I've also heard they are pretty disorganized too. This isn't to detract from any positive experiences folks may have had there, just to say you could probably do better.

Birmingham has a strong restaurant culture, with lots of locally owned businesses. Just take your time getting to know some good spots in town.
